Full Sezane Review: 8 Years Wearing the Brand & What’s Worth It
After eight years of wearing Sezane, I’ve built a collection of pieces that have truly stood the test of time. In this full Sezane review, I’m sharing which styles are genuinely worth the investment, how they fit my 5’2″ frame, and the pieces I approach more selectively now.
Some I’ve even purchased in multiple colors (like the Betty cardigan, Milo bag, and Dan trousers), because they’ve earned their place in my wardrobe. If you’re looking to build a timeless wardrobe with pieces you’ll actually wear year after year, this is where I’d start.
Full Sezane Review: Best Sellers That Are Worth It Long-Term
About Sezane (The Brand At a Glance)
Before diving into specific styles, it helps to understand the brand as a whole. Sezane is a French brand known for its blend of vintage inspiration, feminine details, and effortless Parisian style.
Founder Morgane Sézalory began by sourcing and selling vintage pieces on eBay. Often modifying details like buttons or hems before reselling them. That focus on thoughtful design and craftsmanship eventually evolved into the Sezane brand we know today. One rooted in nostalgia, quality fabrics, and timeless silhouettes.
Today, Sézane is a lifestyle brand offering seasonal and monthly collections for women and men. The overall aesthetic is polished yet approachable, feminine without being overly sweet, classic but not boring. It’s the kind of brand you can rely on for pieces that work together easily and make getting dressed feel simple.
Sezane Review: Gaspard Cardigan Sweater

The Gaspard cardigan is Sézane’s most iconic knit, and it’s often the first piece people associate with the brand. It’s not the most tailored knit I own, but it’s one of Sezane’s most recognizable styles and works best if you like an effortless, slightly undone look.
For a clean and polished look, I like to wear the Gaspard cardigan with the buttons in the back. Styled with pants, and a full tuck, this would be a go-to work outfit for me. For a more casual or relaxed lunch date, I would wear the buttons in the front with maybe a camisole peaking out from underneath.
Sizing runs large. Even in an XXS, it has a roomy fit on my frame. This style leans more effortless than tailored.
A quick note: Some people find the Gaspard to be itchy due to the composition which contains about 30% super kid mohair, giving it that soft, fuzzy texture. If you’re sensitive to wool or mohair, layering a tank or tee underneath helps a lot.
Betty Cardigan: The French Lady Jacket

The Betty cardigan is a French take on the classic lady jacket. It’s such a timeless wardrobe essential. I own this in several colors, and each one is incredibly versatile. Whether worn untucked for a relaxed feel or tucked into high-waisted pants for a polished look, it always delivers effortless style.
Although this cardigan is made from 100% wool, it’s surprisingly soft and comfortable. The collar detail adds just the right amount of polish to elevate any outfit. Pair it with tailored pants for the office or style it with straight-leg jeans and ballet flats for everyday chic.
It has a classic fit, so I recommend taking your true size. I’m wearing an XS.
Sezane Review: Chuck Trousers

The Chuck trousers are, without a doubt, my most-loved and best-fitting pants from Sézane. While they aren’t always fully stocked, they remain one of the brand’s most reliable silhouettes and tend to return in seasonal fabrics and colors.
What makes the Chuck trousers so special is the high waist and straight-leg cut, which creates the illusion of longer legs (I’m 5’2”). The front button detail adds just enough interest, and the fabric has a beautiful weight to it that feels polished and substantial. I’ve worn them in ecru and camel, both of which are true wardrobe staples and not at all sheer.
Sizing-wise, if you’re between sizes, I recommend sizing up. I wear a size 2, which fits more like an American 0. If the Chuck trousers aren’t available when you’re shopping, the Dan trousers (below) offer a very similar fit and feel.
Sezane Review: Dan Trousers

The Dan trousers are just as stylish as the Chuck trousers but sizing can vary depending on the fabric you choose. Both styles have a high waist and straight-leg but there’s one key difference: the Chuck trousers have a button-up fly, while the Dan trousers feature a single-button closure with a zipper.
The Dan trousers are available in several colors and fabrics. I’m wearing the Cyan jean wash (pictured above) which is a rigid denim fabric made from 99% cotton. This version fits similarly to the Chuck trousers. I recommend sticking to your usual size or sizing up slightly since the fabric has no stretch. I take these in a size 2.

However the recycled polyester/wool blend version of the Dan trousers has more stretch and runs slightly larger. For this fabric, if you are in-between sizes, I recommend sizing down. For example, while I wear a size 2 in the denim Dan trousers, I take a size 0 in the poly/wool Dan trousers. The main difference is in the waist fit.
For reference, I am 5’2″ and needed to have both the Dan and the Chuck trousers hemmed.

Chlo Shirt

My beloved Pierro shirt has a new rival. I’m falling more in love with the Sezane Chlo shirt. The delicate ruffle trim adds such a feminine yet effortless touch, making it feel special without trying too hard.
The Chlo shirt comes in several fabrics and prints, but I’m especially drawn to this organic cotton version with its classic stripes and lace trim. It pairs effortlessly with jeans or tailored pants. For a more elevated look, the 100% silk version (available in multiple colors) is perfect as a refined work shirt or an easy yet polished dinner date outfit paired with your Dan trousers.
I’m wearing a size 0, which fits comfortably. For reference, most of my Pierro shirts are size 2, simply because size 0 wasn’t available when I purchased them. Honestly, the difference between the two sizes is so minimal that I could go either way. My advice? Choose your regular size, or size up if you prefer a roomier fit.
Sezane Coats- Johnson Coat

The Johnson coat is Sezane’s signature coat, and for good reason. It’s straight cut and double breasted closure keeps this classic yet elevated, and wearable for many years to come.
Every wardrobe needs a timeless neutral coat. It’s the most versatile outerwear option since it goes with everything. This is a great coat if you need something versatile enough to carry you from day-to-day activities, through to night time events. The Johnson coat is a true blend of casual elegance.
This mid-length coat is lined for extra warmth, adding both style and practicality to your winter wardrobe. I’m wearing a size 2, which fits like an American XS. I love it so much, I even have it in navy!
I have an entire blog post on Sezane coats I own and love if you need more details!
Sezane Scott Trench Coat

The Scott trench coat is Sezane’s take on the classic French-style trench. With its traditional cut and tailored look, it’s a timeless wardrobe staple. Made from 100% organic cotton, it’s also an excellent option for petites (I’m 5’2″), as the length hits just right without overwhelming a smaller frame.
For sizing, take your true size for a classic fit, or size up if you prefer a more oversized look. I’m wearing a size 0 here.
I’m often asked about the difference between the Scott trench and Sezane’s Clyde trench. While the Clyde has a more oversized, fashion-forward silhouette, it’s a style I personally skip. On my petite frame, the volume and length feel too overpowering. If you’re on the shorter side and want a trench that works easily with both pants and dresses, the Scott is the more wearable choice.
I also get questions about the difference between the Sezane Scott Trench and The Curated Tailored Trench. The Scott trench leans into that iconic trench coat style, with a slightly heavier fabric and a more structured feel. On the other hand, The Curated trench is lighter and has an open-front design secured with a belt instead of buttons. I hope this Sezane review helps!
Sezane Review: Pippa Dress

The Pippa dress is a Sezane classic! This is their best-selling dress, and for a good reason. This simple yet elevated t-shirt dress gets a modern twist with the tie-waist detail. Use this to tighten and define your waist a bit.
Made from 100% organic cotton, the Pippa dress will quickly become your go-to summer dress! It’s comfortable enough for running errands during the day with sneakers, and sitting down for dinner at night with a pair of sandals. I’m wearing a size XS for a comfortable fit. Take your true size in this dress. No need to size down.

Sezane Shoes: Alice Heel Pumps

The Alice heels are some beauties! The chunky heel feels modern with a slight retro edge, and they’re surprisingly comfortable to wear. I especially love the embossed gold. Gold works like a neutral and dresses up everything from jeans to dresses.
At the moment, the Alice heels are only available in limited sizes and colors, so availability can vary. If you’ve had your eye on them, it’s one of those styles worth grabbing when your size pops back up.
Sizing on the US site is listed in US sizes. However you will receive these with the French size listed on the shoes. Due to size conversions, not all half sizes are offered. For example, if you order a US size 7, you will receive a French size 38, which is the French equivalent.
For reference, I wear a size 7 in most American shoes (Stuart Weitzman, Sam Edelman, Dolce Vita), and a size 7.5 (or 37.5) in shoes made in Italy and Spain (Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Sarah Flint, Inez) because they are usually a bit more narrow. I wear a size 7 in Sezane, and they arrive as a French size 38. The fit is perfect for me. It is confusing at first, but Sezane offers free returns within 30 days. And once you know your size, you are good!
Paula Babies

The Paula Babies are one of Sézane’s most recognizable shoes. They are a Mary Jane style with a slight heel that keeps them feeling elevated. They’re incredibly easy to style with denim, trousers, or dresses, and are good when you want a bit more polish than a traditional ballerina flat.
I’ve found the sizing to be true to size for me. I wear a size 7 (French 38). The slight heel gives just enough lift to elongate the leg while still being comfortable. While I own these in multiple colors, I find I reach for them when my pants are a little too long and I need a lift, or when I want to dress up a more casual outfit.
Sezane Milo Bag Review

The classic leather Milo bag is one of Sezane’s iconic pieces. This is the brand’s core bag that is available season after season. While some colors are classic and always available, some colors are seasonal. I have the Sezane Milo Classic bag in black, natural heritage leather, and a beautiful taupe! Depending on the lighting, the natural heritage color can lean towards a warm brown or a cognac color. My photos above show the true color pretty well. This is such a great bag for its timeless appeal and amazing quality.
I have been eying the Celine classic bag for a long time now but I’m glad I held off. This Milo bag is a pretty close Celine bag dupe, but for a much more affordable price. The sizes are similar- the Celine bag being 9″ x 7″ x 3″ and the Sezane Milo bag being 9.4″ 6.7″ x 1.8″. The Milo bag arrives in a beautiful box with a dust bag included. As soon as I opened the bag, the scent of fresh leather just poured out. I love that! Overall this is a highly recommended bag that you will wear season after season. I’m wearing it here with the gorgeous Krissy lace dress (wearing a size 2). You can read more about Sezane bags in my previous Sezane bag post.
Sezane Dresses Review- Victoria Dress

Sezane dresses are always a win! The casual style mixed with vintage inspired patterns and details are what make them unique. I would say the closest other brand to them is Reformation, another go-to of mine. I love the Victoria midi dress for several reasons. First, the square neck-line is so flattering. It makes this dress wearable for both casual and dressy occasions. Wear it with heels for an elevated night-time look, or flat sandals for an effortless casual look. Second, they always bring it back in different patterns and colors. Once you know that you love a dress, it’s easy to just choose your next pattern.
The fit is a little personal. For this style, I feel that the sizing is a little on the larger side. I’m wearing a size 2 which is the smallest size offered in this style. As you can see from my photos, it looks like it fits just right. However it feels a little loose in the bust. I would say that if you are a true size 2, this should fit fine, however if you are in between 0 and 2 like me, it might feel a little loose unless you have a larger chest. Overall though, this dress is at the top of my list for so many occasions.
Sezane regularly re-releases this silhouette in new prints and fabrics, which makes it one of their more dependable dress styles season after season.
Raffia Bags and Totes
Sezane is really stepping it up with their raffia bags, especially in spring and summer when these styles are released seasonally. There’s nothing more chic or French, then a casual straw bag paired with florals and stripes for summer. It’s very Jane Birkin-ish, the ultimate French style icon.
While most of Sezane’s raffia bags are seasonal and not available year-round, they tend to bring back similar silhouettes each spring and summer. These are the two styles I’ve loved most for their shape, function, and timeless feel.

The Jude Basket bag is a jumbo sized shoulder bag that is big enough to hold all of your summer essentials. You can fit your wallet, phone, keys, a small make-up bag, water bottle, and sunglasses. I’ve even thrown in a book. I reach for it for farmers markets, beach or pool days, and casual daytime outings. It’s a seasonal style, so availability varies, but the size and shape make it one of Sézane’s most gorgeous raffia options. Size is 14.6 x 17.3 x 13.8 inches.

The Zina bag is a smaller, top-handle version with a ruffle detail. It’s roomy without feeling oversized and works well for lunch dates or quick outings when you don’t need your hands free. This style is currently sold out, but Sézane often releases similar versions each season. Size is 9.8 x 9.8 x 2.8 inches.
I keep my Sezane bags review updated with current raffia styles whenever they restock or release new seasonal versions.
What I’d Buy Again From Sezane (After Years of Wearing the Brand)
Core Staples I’d Repurchase With Hesitation
These are the Sezane pieces that have earned their place in my wardrobe. They’re the ones I’ve bought in multiple colors or fabrics, and reach for year after year. I would confidently recommend these to anyone building a timeless, wearable wardrobe.
Betty Cardigan
I own this in multiple colors because it consistently looks polished and is one of the easiest pieces to dress up or down. It’s reliable, flattering, and always feels finished.
Dan Trousers
These are my most-worn Sézane pants. I own them in more than one fabric, and once you dial in your size, they’re incredibly easy to wear. The high waist and straight leg work beautifully across seasons with both knits and blouses.
Milo Bag
I’ve purchased the Milo in multiple colors, which says everything. The shape is timeless, the leather quality is excellent, and it elevates even very simple outfits. It never feels dated.
Chlo Shirt
This has become one of my favorite Sézane tops. It has the feminine detail Sézane does so well, without feeling precious. I wear it casually with denim or styled more polished with trousers, and it always works.
Sézane Knits I Reach for Season After Season
While not every sweater is a win for everyone, Sézane knits make up the backbone of my wardrobe. I gravitate toward classic shapes with subtle detail. The kinds of pieces I can wear year after year.
Pippa Dress
I’ve owned the Pippa dress in multiple colors and prints, which makes it one of my most reliable Sézane pieces. The simple t-shirt silhouette with the adjustable tie waist makes it easy to wear casually or dress up, and I reach for it constantly in warmer months.
Styles I Love, But Shop More Selectively Now
There are also Sezane pieces I genuinely love, but approach more thoughtfully now. Usually depending on fabric, cut, or how I plan to wear them. These aren’t misses by any means, but styles where fit and personal preference matter more.
Gaspard Cardigan
If you love an effortless, slightly undone look, the Gaspard can be a great option. On my frame, even in an XXS, it has a relaxed fit that leans more casual than tailored. If you prefer a more structured knit, this may not be the Sezane sweater you reach for most.
Seasonal Dresses
Sezane makes beautiful dresses, and I own several, including the Dorothea and Raquel styles. With dresses, I tend to be more selective and choose based on color, print, and where I realistically plan to wear them. Some silhouettes are true standouts season after season, while others feel more tied to a specific moment. I go into much more detail in my Sezane dress review.
Sezane Sizing Guide (What to Know Before Ordering)
Sezane really does a great job with their fit descriptions for each product. I have found that when they tell you to size up or down, it is spot on. Plus their sizes overall have expanded over the years and generally includes sizes 0-14.
For sweaters, fit depends heavily on the style. Chunkier knits often run roomy, so I usually take an XXS (I’m 5’2″, 105 lbs). For more fitted or lightweight sweaters (like the Dita sweater), I often size up to an XS for comfort. The Dita is a great wardrobe staple and one of those pieces that works easily with pants, tucked into skirts, or worn with jeans.
For pants, I typically wear a size 0 or 2 depending on the fabric and fit notes listed. As mentioned above with the Chuck and Dan trousers, fabric makes a big difference. For reference I wear a size 24 in most Paige jeans, Mother jeans, J.Crew jeans, and AG jeans. Every brand fits a little differently, but once you dial in your Sézane sizing, ordering becomes much easier.

Sezane Collections and Sales
Sezane has both seasonal and monthly collections. The anticipation is always high as some items sell out super quick. Stock is kept to a comfortable amount so there is less chance of overproduction, and reduced waste. Because of the limited runs on most collections, Sezane does not usually have sales. You may see a percentage off for a day or so, or a gift with purchase from time to time, but no end of season sales.
If you see an item that you love and it’s sold out, here’s a tip: every Wednesday they add returns back to the site. You may be able to snag your coveted item from a return. In addition, they do occasionally have Archive sales which is additional stock (from returns or left over stock) on previous seasons and collections. You may be able to get a deal here. From my personal experience, if you see an item you love, grab it!
Sézane US Shipping & Returns
Sezane makes returns easy! A pre-paid UPS shipping label is included with every order. You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to make a return free of charge. The best part too, if you live in the US, shipping goes back to a US location. No need to wait for your items to be shipped back to France to receive your credit. Be sure to go to “My orders” on your Sezane account, select the order number you want to return, and complete the online request. If you misplace the label included in the packaging, you can re-print another label at this point. Super easy!
Is Sezane Worth It? My Honest Sezane Review After 8 Years
When it comes to quality, thoughtful design, and value for money, my answer is yes. Sezane is a brand I genuinely trust. It consistently delivers pieces that feel timeless but not boring, with just enough detail to make outfits feel special.
Some pieces like the Betty cardigan, Dan trousers, and Milo bag, have proven themselves as true wardrobe staples. The kind I’d buy again without thinking twice. Others I approach more selectively depending on fit, fabric, and how they work with my proportions.
After years of wearing the brand, I’ve learned which styles truly earn their place in my wardrobe and which ones need more consideration. When you focus on their core staples, Sezane offers some of the most reliable, well-made pieces at its price point.
If you’re building a French-inspired wardrobe beyond individual pieces, I break down the essential staples I rely on in my Timeless French Capsule Wardrobe post. And if you’re curious about accessories, you can also read my Sezane jewelry review for the pieces I wear most.
