Sezane Pierro Shirt Review!

The Sezane Pierro shirt is a coveted part of each new Sezane collection. There’s a good reason why. I thought I would give you my review since it’s such a popular style and I own several of them. I’ll talk about the fit, prints, and how to style this versatile closet staple!

If there is one thing Sezane is known for, it’s the Pierro shirt. Not your simple button-down, the Pierro is an elevated twist to an otherwise casual top. They have a great formula for this one. Combining fit, whimsical prints, and ever-changing selections, it’s your casual top made effortlessly chic. Easy to style, and easy to wear, the Pierro will quickly become your go-to top!

Sustainable Style

Sezane is great for creating small capsule collections. Instead of having 4 seasonable collections like most brands have, Sezane releases multiple small collections throughout the year. Keeping this in mind, they often sell out of certain styles quick! But I love that they are mindful and not wasteful when it comes to creating fashion. It keeps us, as the customer, engaged and eagerly awaiting the new styles. And creates less waste, as demand is often higher than the supply. Be sure to keep this brand on your list of sustainable clothing brands to shop.

The Pierro Shirt Sizing

What I love about the Pierro shirt is the fit (And by the way, the Ann shirt fits the same! So if you love the Pierro, you will love the Ann too). It is a true to size style. Not overly long or bulky, and not too fitted. It is exactly what you want in a shirt. A shirt that is too bulky can look sloppy or be reserved only for more casual looks. One that is too fitted can be uncomfortable and easily become untucked. The Pierro shirt is more on the slim side, but having enough fabric to look effortless and casual.

The buttons on the Pierro are also perfectly placed. You can go up as high or as low as you want. One thing that bothers me about some button-down shirts, is the button placement. Sometimes you just want an extra button for those days you want a little more coverage. The Pierro shirt gives you that option!

Sezane’s site reflects US sizing. A US size 2 is equivalent to a French size 34. For reference, I generally wear a size 2 in Sezane and H&M, but a size 0 in most other US brands. So I would say that Sezane sizing is true to French size, but perhaps on the smaller end of the scale in US sizes. If you are in-between sizes, I recommend sizing up for the most comfortable fit. For example, I have the Tomboy shirt in both size 0 and 2. While the size 0 fits well, I prefer the size 2 for a little bit more room.

Sezane Shirt: Fabric and Prints

The prints are my favorite thing about the Sezane brand. Always unique, nostalgic, and unlike any other. The florals remind me of antique French wallpapers found in the chateaux’s of the Loire Valley. The use of colors are always on-trend, but in a classic and timeless way. These shirts will be pieces that you reach for season after season.

While most of the Pierro shirts are cotton florals, Sezane also does beautiful embroidery as well. This simple style is great for casual days with jeans and shorts, or dressed up with a pair of their gorgeous trousers. And don’t forget to add one of their gorgeous bags! You can’t go wrong with this easy style. I use this embroidered raffia bag all the time (raffia is a seasonal collection). It fits so much!

How to Style the Pierro Shirt

I am such a fan of this shirt that I wear it multiple ways. My favorite way is to pair it with linen pants, my warm weather staple! In fact, I have several pairs of beige linen pants that I wear throughout the spring, summer, and early Fall seasons. It’s easy breezy style. In addition to that, I do love my jeans. It’s the simplest no-think outfit. Just jeans, the Pierro shirt, shoes, and bag, and you are good to go! This pair is a wide-leg style that is very much the trend of the season.

Another way to style the Pierro shirt is to dress is up with a pair of Sezane’s iconic trousers. I love this pair of ecru pants. The fabric weight is perfect for all seasons and it is not see through. I find that to be an issue with some white or ivory pants. The high-button detail adds a visual interest and replaces the need for a belt. However, if you prefer a darker color, this pair of pants is great too with a slightly cropped length.

Ordering and Returns

If you are new to Sezane and are weary of ordering from overseas (they ship from France), fear not. The process is quite quick and easy. They usually have free shipping to the US on orders over $200. Anything under that usually is a $10 fee. As far as returns, they are painless as well. US returns are sent to a warehouse right in NJ (my home state) so refunds are usually very quick and seamless. In fact, all packages include a prepaid returns label.
