7 Sezane Tops To Try
Sezane tops are one of the most asked-about pieces in my wardrobe, and for good reason. The French brand has a way of making everyday pieces feel a little more polished and complete, without losing that effortless feel.
I’ve shared a full Sezane review here if you want a deeper look at the brand, but in this post I’m focusing specifically on the tops I own and actually wear, along with honest fit notes and what makes each one worth it.
Sezane releases four main collections a year, along with smaller monthly drops, which means there’s always something new. These are the styles I keep reaching for, and the ones I’d recommend if you’re trying the brand for the first time or adding to what you already own.
7 Most Popular Sezane Tops
I’m sharing the style differences and fit so you can decide which top is best for you. I’m here to help breakdown the differences (or similarities) between Sezane’s most popular tops. If you’re trying the brand for the first time, tops are the easiest place to start—and these are the ones I’d actually recommend.
Pierro Shirt

I won’t go into too much detail on the Pierro shirt since I have a whole post dedicated to it- Sezane Pierro Shirt Review. However I will say that this was what made me fall in love with Sezane. It’s a classic style shirt with prints that make it so special. The cotton fabric is made from the softest and lightest material, without it being too thin. It is not a structured poplin shirt, but a more fluid cotton that really moves with you. The classic collar and buttons make this a timeless option, while the prints give this a modern update with a slight vintage feel.
It is the most comfortable button down shirt you can find. The Pierro shirt generally comes in 100% cotton, or a cotton/silk blend. I take this in a size 2. You can easily dress it up or down which makes it so versatile.
Tomboy shirt

If you are looking for a classic 100% organic button down shirt that is relaxed yet polished, the Tomboy shirt is what you are looking for. In complete contrast to the Grayson Hero shirt which is generous in sizing, the Tomboy shirt is not oversized. It is true to size with only a slightly more relaxed fit than the Pierro shirt. The fabric is also a bit heavier than the Pierro shirt. I’m wearing this in a size 2 (I also own the Tomboy in a size 0, however I prefer the fit of the size 2).
The cotton fabric is also slightly heavier yet not as structured as a cotton poplin. The Tomboy is your classic white button down shirt to wear with jeans for an off-duty look, or with pants for a professional work look. Note that this shirt only gets softer with wear. I’ve had mine for several years and it’s better than when I first bought it.
In addition to 100% cotton, the Tomboy shirt also comes in a cotton blend. Like each of the Sezane shirts, this one comes in a range of prints and colors. Wear this tucked, knotted, or half tucked depending on on the outfit. This is one I reach for often—and the one I’d recommend if you want a classic, easy white button-down. This is a true classic wardrobe staple!

Chlo shirt review

The Chlo shirt is the most ladylike of the bunch. The ruffled placket and collar, along with the covered buttons makes this a dressier option than the Pierro or the Tomboy. What makes the Chlo so special because is how versatile it is. You can wear it with jeans for an elevated everyday look, or pair it with trousers or a skirt for something more polished. The fit is true to size and is long enough to tuck into a medium-rise or high-waisted pants or jeans.
If you’re looking for something a little dressier for special occasions, the Guipure lace blouse version is the one I recommend. It’s an elegant wardrobe staple that can be worn with pants, jeans, a skirt, or even shorts. It’s also my most-worn Sezane top. I take a size 2.

Sezane tops- Mathilda shirt

The Mathilda top is one of those styles that comes back around every now and then, but it’s not always available. It’s similar to the Chlo shirt with an embroidered ruffle detail along the collar and placket. The difference is, it has small gathers at the shoulders. This gives the top a more relaxed look to it, but without it being oversized.
It comes in both cotton and cotton blend styles, and I recommend taking your true size. Also note the color difference between my top and the one shown on the Sezane site. Mine shows the true color tone more accurately (no filter!).
If this one isn’t available, I would choose this Chlo shirt for a very similar look. Both are cotton with beautiful feminine details, but the Chlo feels just a little more polished, while the Mathilda leans slightly more relaxed.
Ann shirt

The Ann shirt is a popular choice for its classically elevated mood. To be honest, the only difference I see between the Ann shirt and the Pierro shirt is the fabric. The Pierro shirt generally comes in cotton, while the Ann shirt generally comes in silk, or silk blend. The fit is the same true to size style, with a classic collar, buttons, and straight cut. Unlike the Pierro shirt with its regular buttons, the Ann shirt often has fabric covered buttons. For a more casual look, consider the Pierro shirt. And for a dressier look for dinner or work, try the Ann shirt.
Is Sezane Worth It?
Sezane is one of my most-worn brands so yes, I do think it’s worth it. They offer high-quality items for fair prices. Plus their styles are so unique, it’s hard to find a similar brand. If you’re building a classic wardrobe full of versatile pieces you can wear year after year, his is a brand I would absolutely recommend.
