Nautical inspired looks seem to pop up as soon as Memorial Day hits. The red, white, and blue patterns, stripes, the quirky lobster prints, and the anchors! They are seen everywhere and on everyone. It’s very cute and very predictable. If you want to wear nautical inspired outfits but want to be a little different, here’s my take on the new nautical look. It’s a softer, modern update to the traditional look. And it’s equally appropriate for the beach or the city.

Nautical Inspired Dresses

The traditional nautical color palette is bold and contrasting. I’m doing the opposite and using more muted colors. The red has been toned down to a softer pink, while the blue is also a little lighter. The pink and blue stripes together also adds a dramatic yet subdued feel, as the cool toned colors are extremely calming. The overall look is chic, stylish, and approachable. This is definitely a palette that is easy to pull off. If bold colors aren’t for you, then this combination is perfect!

 

Raffia Bags

And what summer outfit is complete without a raffia bag or tote? The natural fibers of raffia gives a casual but elegant vibe to your outfits. Finding a raffia bag with netting adds to the nautical look even more. There are so many great bags available, its easy to find one you love. Keep it all one color tone so that you can mix and match with most of your outifts. Or get one with a pretty embroidered print that you will cherish for years.

 

 

Nude Shoes

Instead of white or gold shoes, keep your overall look softer with a nude shoe. And they make for a great choice when you need one shoe to do multiple duty. With so many nude shades out there now, you are bound to find your perfect nude. When you find it, grab it, and go with it! It’s a staple that will become your most worn shoes.

 

Seashell Jewelry

This new nautical look will make you the envy of every sunburned beach goer in the area. Keep the color palette softer and opt for more versatile pieces such as a raffia bag, nude shies, and sea inspired jewelry. In addition, remember to wear your daily SPF, protect your eyes with those sunnies, and rock your new nautical look!
