The maxi dress is a year-round staple, however I find that summer is when these styles really stand out. When everyone else is wearing shorts, a maxi dress will set you apart from the crowd. With so many options to choose from you are sure to find one to suit your style and become a summer wardrobe essential.

On the days where shorts seem boring, or too difficult to match to a top, I like to grab a maxi dress. There is something about a maxi dress that is so effortlessly casual. I love the feel of the fabric swaying at my ankles. Or to wrap it up around my legs when sitting in the grass at the park. It’s also an easy throw-on and can be paired with literally any shoe you have. I like a nice flat sandal for daytime such as this one. At night, a fun heel is perfect.

This Maxi dress I’m wearing is from a new-to-me brand called Farm Rio. They are based out of Brazil and bring to life local culture, good energy, and happiness in their products. I love reading about brands and their mission. One statement they make that really stands out to me is- “Welcome to our magic, and feel it in your soul”. I’m definitely feeling Farm Rio in my soul! In fact I’m feeling it so much that this is my 3rd dress from them!

The details are always what makes an outfit complete. This dress has many subtle details going on. The little colorful florals, the rope tie waist belt, the vertical ruffles going down the length of the dress, and the ruffled hem. All subtle yet effortlessly impactful. To enhance and further add to these details, I’ve added my favorite two trends of the season.

For this look I chose a trendy architectural heel. Architectural heels are by far my favorite trend of the season! I love special details in my clothing and that’s what these heels are all about.  The circular heel adds a special interest and makes them instantly modern. While the woven leather adds a classic twist. I think of the old Bentwood rocking chairs when I see this woven pattern. These also have a nice low heel. Perfect for Saturday strolls at the Farmer’s Market.

And the next big trend of the season is the PVC bags. Your summer wardrobe really isn’t complete without one. This one from Jeff Wan has a fun pineapple on it. It’s a great size for summer and I plan on using it at the beach too to keep my magazines, sunscreen, and sunglasses in it. If you use my unique code- Fashion15 on their website, you get 15% off! I have to mention that this bag was gifted to me by the brand. But I absolutely love it and think it very well made. I’m also eyeing some of their other bags such as this one that they call “The Lunch box”!

This summer when you don’t know what to wear, reach for a maxi dress. It will instantly elevate your mood and make you feel a little more special about what you have chosen. You will definitely be the envy of everyone who decided to wear shorts! 🙂
