Sezane Dan Trousers review

Sezane Pants Guide

Trying to decide which pants are flattering enough to add to your fall/winter wardrobe? Navigating the world of pants, especially for the Fall season, can be over-whelming. With so many style options and color choices to choose from, I’m making it a bit easier for you with this Sezane Pants Guide. This French brand is a go-to of mine for well-fitting and high quality pants. The selection is great with so many different styles for different looks. Each collection is full of fresh styles rooted in classic design. Plus their sizing range is pretty good too. Let’s get into Sezane’s most popular pants!

Sezane Pants Guide

The French Brand: Sezane

Here’s a little known fact- Sezane got its start in vintage fashion. Founder Morgan Sezalory sourced vintage finds to re-make and re-sell on ebay. The popularity and demand for her creations lead her to launch the Sezane brand, which has become a best-selling French brand and cult favorite. So it’s no surprise that many of Sezane’s pants have a slight vintage charm to them.

Why Choose Sezane?

Sezane is one of those brands that really stands out in a league of their own. It’s hard to find a similar brand with the same range of styles and attainable price point. Sezane is more like a luxury brand in terms of fabrics and design styles, but with more comfortable prices. There are other popular French brands like Sandro, Maje, Ba&Sh, and Isabel Marant. I love them all. But none come close to the prices that Sezane offers. Combined with the high-quality designs, Sezane is a brand not to miss.

Sezane Pants Guide & Review

This Sezane pants guide covers their best-selling pants. We will dive into styles, fabrics, and sizing. I will also compare between other pants, where appropriate, incase you have another one that fits you well. Sizing really does vary between styles, but overall I would say that Sezane typically runs true to size. But let’s dive in deeper because there are a few exceptions!

Sezane Damon Trousers Review

Sezane Damon Trousers Review

Sezane Damon Trousers petite over 40

The Damon trousers are the newest style I’ve added to my wardrobe. I love the cropped length- it’s perfect for my petite frame (I’m 5’2″, or 157 cm). While Sezane does not have petite sizing, the cropped pants and jeans are a great length for shorter frames. The Damon trousers come in several colors and fabrics. I’m wearing the Ecru version made from a polyester/ wool blend with 43% wool. The fabric has a very nice drape to it and is not see through at all.

As for the Sezane pants sizing, this Damon style runs pretty true to size. I’m wearing the size 0 however after receiving these, I did order a size 2 for comparison. I decided to stick with the size 0 as it fit me better. The size 2 was a little big in the waist. Overall, if you are in-between sizes, you may want to size down in this style. But please note- the Damon Trousers are also available in a gray wool. Because of the high wool count, the fabric is a bit thicker, which makes this style run slightly smaller. If in-between sizes, then size up in the wool. I have them in a size 2.

With its cuffed hem, the Damon pants make for a perfect fall transition outfit. Pair these with a button-down shirt, an of-the-moment sweater polo, or with the Lyna wool sweater for ultra chic style.

Sezane Pants: The Chuck Trousers

How to wear wide leg pants

No Sezane pants guide would be complete without mentioning the Chuck trousers. They still remain my favorite pants style. These always sell-out quick and are a fan favorite. The most notable feature is the button fly. Combined with the high-waist and straight-leg style, these pants give you the illusion of longer legs.

The Chuck trouser sizing is a bit different from the Damon trousers discussed above. These run a little smaller, and therefore I wear a size 2 in these- even with the same Polyester/wool blend as the Damon trousers. When in doubt, size up in this style. You will find that you reach for these over and over again. But they always sell out quick so hurry! Note that I did have to get these hemmed (I’m 5’2″).

You can read more about the Chuck trousers and see how I styled the ecru version in my other Sezane post, where I review Sezane’s most popular products.

Sezane Ciara Pants

Sezane Ciara pants

The Ciara pants are a classic French cigarette style pants but with a slightly flared hem. You see these often styled with a striped tee or sweater, and ballet flats. These remind me of the Vince stitch front pants (they are the same length). I’m styling these cotton pants for Fall with the iconic Betty cardigan. These pants would also look great with the relaxed Gary sweater for a cozy and casual vibe. For an ultra casual but polished look, you can also wear these with a sweatshirt and sneakers.

The Ciara pants are form-fitting throughout with the exception of the slight flare, making these pants more modern. The zipper is on the side for a polished and seamless look. They are high-waisted with a crop length. Great for petite sizes as there is no need for a hem! Because they are fitted, you may need to size up in this style if you are in between sizes. I take these in a size 2, and I can tell you, there is no way I would be able to zip up a size 0! Overall these are a bit on the smaller side. A classic pair of black pants that every closet needs.

Sezane Dan Trousers Review

Sezane Dan Trousers review

Sezane Dan pants petite

The Dan trousers are right up there next to my beloved Chuck trousers (this pair I’m wearing was a gift from the brand). What I love about the Dan style, and what makes them so classic, is the high-waist and front pockets. They have a vintage appeal to them. If 70’s style pants were straight legged, this would it. All the charm is in the front pockets so I like to make sure I tuck or wear a shorter top so not to cover them.

The Dan pants sizing is similar to the Damon trousers. For the polyester/ wool blend style (that I’m wearing) you will take your usual size or size down. I wear the Dan trousers in a size 0, except for the denim version. Since the denim fabric is a bit thicker, you will want to size up in these. I wear the denim Dan trousers in a size 2. They are listed as mid-rise on the site, however I find these to be high-waisted. I do need to get the Dan trousers hemmed to fit my petite height.

Sezane Martin Trousers

Sezane Martin wool trousers

I love the wool fabric of these Martin Trousers. Made from 70% wool, 30% Polyamide, they so soft and almost flannel like. These are warm pants that are great for the cold winter season. This is a classic pant style that you can wear for so many occasions. The straight leg is full length and has a wider fit than the Dan pants. I love this for day to night office style with the Tomboy shirt and pumps. These are very comfortable. In fact I may need to get another color! I’m wearing a size 2 (French 34) for a comfortable fit. Note that I did need to get these hemmed. They even come in a cropped version (see below).

Martin Crop Trousers

Petites will love the Martin crop trousers! While these are not crop on my 5’2″ (62 cm) frame, they hit just right for wearing with flats or a low heel, like the Paula babies. This style is made from cotton and runs just slightly smaller than the wool version above.  I’m wearing a size 2 so I think it still fits true to size. However if you are in-between sizes, I would size up. I’m wearing these crop pants with the Yohan jumper that is a classic wardrobe staple!

Sezane Le Crop Jeans

Sezane Le Crop jeans on petite woman

Technically not pants, however I think including a pair of denim in this Sezane Pants Guide is appropriate. The Sezane Le Crop jeans have been on my wishlist for a while. I was wondering how they would fit on a petite frame (I’m 5’2″). Although these are not cropped on me, they are a good length to wear the Paula Babies or with flat shoes. If you’re petite and are looking for a pair of full length wide-leg jeans that you can wear with flats or low-heels, give these a try. Taller ladies, you will love these! As for sizing, I took a size 2 in these. I’ve learned that Sezane’s jeans generally run on the small side. When in doubt, size-up!

Sezane Jeans: L’Iconique Droit Trousers

Sezane droit jeans petite

These are another pair of Sezane jeans that are petite friendly. The l’iconique droit trousers are a classic straight-leg style. I love the length which can accommodate both heels and flat loafers. These feel good as far as the fabric and stretch go. Like most Sezane jeans, these are made from a more rigid cotton with only 1% elastane. If you are in-between sizes, then size up. I’m wearing size 2. I prefer the look of these over the Le crop jeans.

Sezane Shipping and Returns

Sometimes you have to spend $200 for free shipping (otherwise shipping is $10). However most of the time shipping is free in the US. Sezane ships from France but shipping is really fast! And there are no customs fees on orders under $800. So if you are doing a large haul that’s over $800, you may want to make 2 separate purchases.

Returns are easy too! Every order comes with a return UPS label in the box. Just log-in to your order and select whether you want a return for original credit or a voucher to use on the site. It’s super easy!
