How to Style Loafers

Loafers are a great and versatile shoe that can easily be worn with both casual and dressier looks. Loafers are having a big moment this season. This typical preppy style has become the latest footwear trend. Not only are they super comfortable, but are so easy to style. I love that you can wear them with everything from loungewear, dresses, to office looks. Today I’m going to share some inspiration on how to style loafers.

How to Style Loafers

Loafers are easy to style. I’ve been wearing mine a ton this season. They are such an easy throw-on shoe. Let’s talk about the ways you can style this very classic menswear-inspired trend.

Loafers with Jeans

Jeans and loafers create such a polished casual look. Pairing them with straight-leg jeans keeps the shoes exposed so that you get the full loafer look. This is my favorite way to wear them! Plus it really keeps the look balanced. You can also pair them with cropped wide-leg jeans. While you can wear them with longer bootcut and flare jeans, you want to make sure the length of your jeans is not too long so that they puddle (even though puddled jeans is also having a moment!).

Loafers Styled with a Blazer

A blazer and loafers is such a timeless combination. Blazers are no longer only for the office, but can be worn with jeans, pants, skirts, ad even dresses! Pairing loafers with pants and a blazer creates a very office friendly look. This is a great way to stay comfortable at work. As mentioned above, jeans and loafers is a perfect combo, when you add in the blazer, you instantly have really well put together look. You can also wear your loafers with a dress and top it off with a blazer as your third styling piece (more about the rule of 3 here).

How to Style Dresses with Loafers

Styling your dresses with loafers is as easy as swapping out your ballet flats. While I adore ballet flats, loafers really add a modern touch your look. By pairing dresses and loafers together, you keep the overall look from being too girly.

Styling Socks with Loafers

Cute socks and loafers are a huge trend for Fall! This is a really cute look but it can get very “school girl” unless you pair this with a more minimal type outfit like a straight skirt, or pants and a chunky seater.

There are so many ways to wear black loafers! I love a classic black and white look for simple but elegant style. Having a pair of go-to black loafers is a must! I love this straight-leg pant style that you can easily dress up or down. This is a great day to night look.

Brown Loafers outfit

Brown or tan loafers are your most versatile option. They are such a great neutral color. Wear them with straight leg jeans and a white button down shirt for an effortless casual look. Add a similar toned coat to top-off the look.

Heeled Loafers Outfit

Heeled loafers are so on-trend right now. They are actually quite wearable too. Whether you wear your heeled loafers with socks or not, there are so many ways you can style them. Wear them with a dress or a slip skirt to show off the heel. They are also a great work shoe paired with long pants.

White or ivory is great all season neutral. Think of them as an alternative to wearing white sneakers. I love them paired with linen pants in the spring and summer, and jeans in the fall and winter. Style your white loafers with white jeans, or add a pop of white in your top to balance out the look. You can never go wrong with a nautical striped sweater!
