8 Must Have Summer Shoes

“Must have summer shoes” is a post I hope you find helpful. I am so ready for summer this year! It seems like people are traveling again and that means packing summer shoes. I’m looking forward to taking the time to enjoy getting out as a family, as a couple with my husband, and some girl friend time. Coordinating outfits and shoes is a must because let’s face it, shoes can really make or break an outfit. With so many styles to choose from, and so many summer activities to tackle, I’ve put together 8 of your must have summer shoes to get you where you need!

Must Have Summer Shoes

Flat Neutral Sandals

The most versatile summer option is a flat sandal. These are great for daily errands to the grocery store, to strolling through town, lunch or dinner dates, really any occasion calls for flat sandals. These are also great for making a dressier outfit more casual. Having a flat neutral color sandal on hand will be your outfit savior on many occasions. They are always a good idea. Great for travel too, when you need to limit your options.

I absolutely love this pair of sandals that I recently bought. I thought they were so pretty with the asymmetric tie detail. I’m happy to say that they are also super comfortable and true to US size. I did not experience any break-in period. They are comfortable at first wear.

These flat neutral sandals really go with everything, but today I’ve paired them with a yellow polo style dress. Another summer staple! I’ve already worn this outfit more times than I can count. I love an easy go-to outfit! Sizing for these is only available in full sizes. I know, I hate when brands do that. But they do run true to size. For example, I’m wearing a size 7 (37). I normally take a size 7 in Stuart Weitzman and Sam Edelman, but a 37.5 in Jimmy Choo and Sarah Flint. So I would say these run true to US 7. If you are a true US half size, then size up.

Must Have Summer Shoes: Flat White Sandals

I love flat white sandals for summer! I really believe that they are a must for everyone. They really brighten up an outfit and just make the overall vibe fresh and clean. I have a friend who refuses to wear any kind of white shoes. She thinks it makes her feet look too big. It’s entirely not true! White may be bright, but they are so chic.

This pair of white flat sandals is another new purchase for me (these are selling quick!). I have honestly been obsessing over the Hermes H sandals for years! I’m just having a hard time justifying the cost for a pair of shoes that I know I will damage. I wear my summer sandals a lot! This pair has a very similar look for a fraction of the price. I find this brand to be true to US size. I’m wearing a size 7 here and they feel great. Again, no break-in required. I love that!

Today I’ve paired these sandals with an easy and UV+ protected coral tunic dress. This is great for poolside days and easy summer outfits. And with a nautical inspired dress that is also UV protected!

Gold Heels

Metallic heels, whether you prefer gold or silver, are your go-to occasion shoes. They instantly dress up a look. Plus they are a neutral so they go with anything. I love these all year around for weddings and special occasions, and in the summer with just about any dress.

Here I am wearing the Ba&sh Tabby dress with my Inez gold heels. This dress is great because it can be dressed up or down. I love how the gold heels keep the look neutral and soft but dressy at the same time. Inez is one of my go-to heel brands for their comfort and sophistication. What is also really great about Inez shoes is that they offer multiple widths- slim, standard, and roomy. Plus the cushy arch support makes for a really comfortable pair of heels! These are my most worn shoe brand along with the brand listed below. Get 15% off Inez shoes with code TARA15 (it’s such a great deal!). Bag is by MME.Mink.

Block Heel Sandals

Block heel sandals are a perfect alternative to traditional heels. Especially during summer. Outdoor parties are more common in the summer and you want a shoe that doesn’t sink into the grass! This is my go-to block heel sandal from Sarah Flint. I wear these all the time! As always, take $60 off your first purchase with code SARAHFLINT-BATARA. For my full Sarah Flint shoe review, read this previous Sarah Flint post. I wear the 60mm Heel height.

White Sneakers

White sneakers are an all year favorite. They are comfortable, and go with everything. I know some of you don’t prefer sneakers with dresses, however it really is a cute and casual look. I love my Gucci Ace sneakers and wear them quite a lot. For sizing, you can refer to my previous post here where I talk about the Gucci sneakers fit. Just a heads up- they do run large.

For those wanting a traditional white sneaker, I cannot recommend these canvas white sneakers enough. They are really comfortable and cushy. Sizing runs a little large with these too. I wear them in a size 6.5, while my usual US size is a 7. As with all of  my sneakers, I wear no-show socks with them.

Must Have Summer Shoes: Flip Flops

Lilly Pulitzer McKim gold flip flops

What the top must have summer shoes? Flip flops of course! The easiest style to wear with anything. Over the last few years, I have favored slides over flip flops, however they are still a wardrobe staple. Having a dressier style like these gold sandals is great for a casual “going out” look. This particular gold pair I’ve had for several years. They are getting slightly faded but I think that just adds character to the look. Plus, they are so great that they are available year after year. They are padded so they are extra comfortable as well!

If you are looking for a more casual, poolside flip-flop, I love Havianas. They are so affordable and easily transition from pool, to beach, to dinner! I own several of these as well.

Neutral Heels

Neutral heels will get the most wear. They can be worn with special occasion dresses, easy summer dresses, jeans, skirts, the list goes on. I like choosing a more traditional heel over a block heel when I want a chic and dressier look. The narrow heel feels very feminine and more classic. My go-to pair of neutral heels are the Isa sandals by Inez. I wear these all year around. As I mentioned with the gold heels, Inez offers multiple widths to ensure your best fit. Plus the padded footbed makes wearing heels a breeze! Don’t forget you get 15% off at Inez with my code TARA15.

Colorful Sandals

While I love neutrals and whites to pair with any outfit, it’s always fun to add some color. This pair of papaya orange block heel sandals are from the newest collection at Sarah Flint. Inspired by an Italian summer by the Amalfi coast. Whether you choose flats or heels, orange is such an unexpected and fun pop of color to add to a summer outfit. I especially love it paired with white, cream, and navy blue! I also love this blue wedge sandal for a pop of color. Don’t forget the $60 discount off of your first purchase at Sarah Flint with code SARAHFLINT-BATARA.
