My Favorite Sezane Dresses
It’s no secret that Sezane is one of my most-worn and most-loved brands. They really do a great job of combining effortless Parisian style with modern wardrobe needs. The thoughtful designs and attention to detail is what Sezane does best. Today, I’m sharing a review of my favorite Sezane dresses. So whisk yourself away with me, and picture yourself at a cute little cafe wearing one of these Sezane dresses!
Sezane Dresses Review
You all know that I love this French brand. I’ve been a fan since the early years. It’s amazing to see how far this brand has come over the years and how they have evolved. Sezane got its start in vintage clothing. Founder Morgan Sezalory started out by sourcing and selling vintage clothes on ebay. By making small changes to these vintage pieces, Morgan established her own unique style. This success found its way to eventually creating the Sezane brand. Inspired by vintage finds and classic Parisian flair, Sezane has come to be the brand we all love. It’s become a source for all ages who love classic yet modern styles.
Sezane Dresses
Each Sezane clothing collection tells a story of a place or a feeling. It’s in the prints and colors used each season. You can find your favorite Sezane dresses in new prints each season, plus a selection of new styles. I love when a brand keeps a best-selling style but gives it an update. Some of the dresses featured below many be from a past season. However I will be sharing style and sizing information to help you decide if you want to purchase the latest print available.
Sezane Dorotha Dress
The Sezane Dorotha dress is a classic square neck dress with self-tie straps. This style reminds me of taking a European vacation, as it’s perfect for strolling the market during the day, and transitioning right into to dinner. While the cut of this dress is straight, it does have a slight inward curve which gives you a little bit of a defined waist. The self tie shoulder straps make this super adjustable- I love that! There is also a front slit that does not go too high (thank you!).
I find the fit to be true to size. I’m wearing a size 2. I am usually in-between sizes in Sezane, either a size 0 or a size 2. The size 2 fits fine with some room. I also find the length to be petite friendly (I’m 5’2″ or 158 cm). While I usually prefer my midi dresses to be a bit shorter for my height, I find this style suits the length just fine.
Sezane keeps bringing back the Dorotha dress each year in a new print. I love the embroidered detail in this current style. You can also see my wearing the Dorotha dress in the Rosa print in my Sezane bags post. This is one of those dresses you may find yourself getting in multiple prints! It’s easy to wear from day to night.
Sezane Pippa Short Dress
The Pippa dress is a Sezane classic! This is their best-selling dress. I love the casual t-shirt vibes this dress gives. The tie waist give this a bit more interest then your average t- shirt dress. Use this to tighten and define your waist a bit. Made from 100% organic cotton, this is your go-to summer dress! If you prefer a longer dress, the Pippa long dress may be for you. This one is selling out quick so you may also want to try the Emy dress (this one is a classic t-shirt style dress without the tie detail). I love to wear the Pippa as an everyday summer dress. It’s comfortable enough for running errands during the day, and sitting down for dinner at night. Wearing it with the Justin basket bag.
Sezane Pippa Long Dress Review
Since I love the Pippa short dress so much (I have it in 3 colors!), I decided to try the long version. It’s pretty long on my 5’2″ frame, however I think the length makes it suitable for more dressier occasions. This is definitely a t-shirt dress that you can wear to a daytime wedding. The fit is the same as the short version with the only difference being the length. I’m wearing my patent leather heels from Inez with a 2.8″ (70mm) heel (save 15% at Inez with TARAFHM15), and the Zina basket bag.
Sezane Themis Dress
The Themis dress is midi length dress, however it looks maxi length on my 5’2″ (62 cm) frame. I wasn’t sure if it would work for me, but I actually love it! The style looks very similar to the long Pippa dress, however the material is different. While the Pippa dresses are made from a cotton t-shirt material, the Themis dress is made from 100% viscose. This gives it a dressier vibe.
Being petite, I do think this dress looks best with a bit of a heel. To keep the look more casual and effortless, I’ve paired the dress with suede boots. You can also wear this dress with a classic pump for a perfect party look.
I’m wearing a size 2 and it is a perfect fit! Take your true size unless you are generally in-between sizes. Then I say to size up.
Allya Dress
The Allya dress is a beautiful square neck style mini dress. I find the length to be short but not too short on my petite frame (I’m 5’2″). The puff sleeves and open back make this more of an occasion dress. Note that if you wear a bra with this, the back strap will be about 85% hidden by the tie. I think you can get away with one if needed but note that it may show a bit.
Sezane recommends to size down if you are in-between sizes. Here are my thoughts about that- I’m wearing a size 2 (since 0 is not offered). The tie back allows you to tie this as tight or as loose as you want. I have this tied comfortably and the fit throughout the waist and hips is good. Comfortable while not being too tight or too loose. For this reason, I think sizing down is not necessary if you are in-between sizes. However I do have an exception. Where I find the Allya dress to be a bit loose is in the bust and shoulders. Keep in mind that I am petite and often petites have trouble with square necklines. They are usually cut too wide for us. That is the case here. While overall the dress fits well, some petites may find the shoulders falling down. If you don’t mind that, or want to wear this as an off-the shoulder dress, that may not be an issue for you. Overall, a beautiful dress though!
Sezane Sol Dress
The Sezane Sol dress is a mini dress style without being too short. The long sleeves, removable tie belt, and button-up shirt style makes this great for daytime looks. What makes this dress so versatile is the party dress vibes from the skater style skirt. The dress falls into a skater skirt which gives this a dress very flirty look. The skater skirt has a slight flare to it. For this reason, I love the Sol dress paired with flat or low heel shoes. It takes the party dress vibe down a notch and makes this versatile enough for day or night. This style is usually available in different prints each season. The embroidered details are what drew me to this particular one.
Sizing runs true to size. The website says to size down if you are in-between sizes. I’m usually between a size 0 and 2. Since a size 0 was not offered (it’s usually not in dresses by the way), I’m wearing a size 2. Since this is a shirt style, I think taking your true size is fine. The size 2 has a roomy but comfortable fit. I’m not sure that sizing down is really necessary. Plus you can tie the belt as tight or as loose as you want. You can even swap out a different belt like this raffia belt to change up the look.
Lauretta Dress
The Lauretta dress is one of my go-to Sezane dresses for the in-between seasons (the Tea dress has a similar style to it). The longer length paired with the long sleeves, makes this perfect for when the weather is a little bit too cool or rainy. It pairs so well with boots! The fabric is light and comfortable, and comes in a seasonal variety of prints. The length is a bit long for my height and I may consider having it hemmed. However since tend to wear this on cooler days, I do like the extra leg coverage.
Sizing runs a bit on the larger size. I’m wearing a size 2 and it has a relaxed fit. I would prefer this one in a size 0 (it is not currently offered in 0). You may want to size down if you are in between sizes. The self-tie waist allows you to adjust and cinch as tight or as loose as you want. I also love pairing this dress with the Artemis belt to change up the look.
