8 Stylish Thanksgiving Outfits
Whether you are dressing up, or dressing down, use these style tips to elevate your holiday spirit. Thanksgiving is always about being comfortable first. So choose a style that suits your mood and the occasion.
Let’s break this down by outfit. Here I’m sharing my favorite looks for comfort and of course style.
Slip Skirt and Sweater
A slip skirt and chunky sweater like a turtleneck are so classy. This has to be my favorite Fall/ Winter combo. There’s something very casually chic yet polished about this look. You can wear this as a monochrome look as I’m wearing it, or mix it up with a neutral top or bottom. I love a warm color for Thanksgiving dinner. Something to go perfectly with pumpkin spice and warm apple pie. Pair this look with knee high boots for warmth and effortless style. I love a neutral pair of boots for matching with everything, or you can never go wrong with black knee high boots!

Velvet Blazer and Jeans
It’s the most festive time of year to wear a velvet blazer. Wearing a velvet blazer to Thanksgiving dinner balances both comfort and style. Not only does it keep you cozy, but gives you an effortlessly chic look. Wear it open with a tee shirt underneath for more relaxed Thanksgiving occasions, or button it up for a more elevated look.
I love to pair velvet with jeans for a more casual chic vibe. The two textures work so well together! Style this look with ankle boots, loafers, or Mary Jane flats!
Matching Sets
I do love a matching set. They make getting dressed so easy since the outfit is already picked out for you. Plus keeping your outfit one color gives you a more elevated look. Monochrome looks are always so chic.
You have lots of options when it comes to wearing matching sets. Wearing a matching set together keeps the look minimal yet elegantly impactful. But I also the option of mixing and matching. From sweaters and skirt sets, to pant sets, wearing a matching set is an easy and stylish Thanksgiving outfit idea. You can read more about how I like to style matching sets in my previous blog post.
Thanksgiving Outfits: Plaid
Plaid is such a timeless fall/winter print! Incorporating plaid into your Thanksgiving outfit is easy. There are so many stylish options available this time of year. Whether your are dressing up or down, add some plaid for a classic fall look.
For cozy and stylish Thanksgiving outfits, wear a plaid skirt with knee high boots, and a cozy sweater. For a more laid back vibe, try a plaid button-up shirt with jeans and loafers. Either way, there are so many different plaids, you are sure to find one you love!
Thanksgiving Dinner Sweater Dress
A sweater dress is always cozy yet is super stylish. These can be tricky though. Especially for Thanksgiving outfits. Choose a thicker wool dress so that it will lay nicely over your body. A thin knit sweater dress will show every curve and bulge you have. Plus a thicker dress is more comfortable and can be easily styled with a belt to help define the waist.
For what to wear under a sweater dress, try a shaping bodysuit to keep everything smooth.
Classic Blazer and Jeans
Wearing a blazer is to Fall as peanut butter is to jelly. They just really go together. A blazer is great for cooler weather as your outerwear, but just as great for wearing in colder weather. Just layer a coat over it. A classic blazer pairs so well with jeans. I love this season’s flare jeans for a modern update on the look. Finish the look with classic ankle boots or loafers.
When choosing a blazer, if you are going for an investment piece, because blazers can get expensive, choose a neutral color like navy, brown, or black. But if you are going for a fun and more affordable option, have fun with the color! I love a burgundy blazer for this fall season. It brightens up a dreary fall day and is so festive as for Thanksgiving dinner outfit!
Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
Thanksgiving is a holiday that favors comfortable and cozy attire. The point of the holiday is to give thanks and to eat plenty of food. So casual comfort is a must! An easy sweater and jeans is a simple yet classic way to dress for the holidays. No fuss, super comfortable, and you probably already own this Thanksgiving outfit!
Ankle Boots and Skirt Outfit
There is something very fall-like about wearing ankle boots with skirts. Having a little bit of ankle peaking out from under the skirt gives off an effortless vibe. I would choose ankle boots over knee-high boots when I want to keep the look casual chic. Opt for a patterned midi skirt, or go minimal with a solid skirt option. Either way, wearing a skirt with ankle boots is always a stylish Thanksgiving outfit idea.
Thanksgiving day dressing is all about balancing comfort and style. While any color palette will do, now is the time to embrace seasonal colors like jewel tones, earthy greens and browns, and all-season neutrals. Wear any of these stylish Thanksgiving outfits this year. I’d love to hear what you are wearing in the comment section below!
