Chloe wool coat

Why You Need A Long Wool Coat

The long wool coat is a wardrobe staple. There is a time for puffer coats and a time for a more sophisticated option. Just think of an evening wedding, or other type of formal event. You don’t want to spend time searching for the perfect outfit only to throw the wrong coat over-top. A long wool coat is your answer to anytime chic.

The long length makes it great as a layer over a long dress or skirt. Plus it keeps you warm by covering more of your body. Think of it as a giant blanket wrapped around your shoulders. On a cold winter day when I’m at home, I like to grab a throw blanket from the couch and wrap myself up in it. I want that same cozy feeling when I go out into the cold winter world. Whether midi or maxi, the long wool coat covers up more than 80% of your body, making it the perfect everyday option for work or weekend.

A coats length does somewhat dictate it’s vibe. Too short, gives a more casual vibe, while a longer length covers both casual and dressy in one. This military inspired coat from Hobbs London a is a true classic (similar here and shorter version here). The gold double breasted buttons lend that chic Chloe girl vibe. Paired with a pleated silk skirt from and knee high boots from Banana Republic (best purchase of the Fall by the way), this is my go-to winter chic look. It’s great for work, dinner, a weekend get-together, you name it.

In case you didn’t know, Hobbs London makes outstanding coats overall. The expert tailoring and attention to details make any Hobbs coat an instant classic. You can find them at their website which ships from London, or at Bloomingdale’s. The price point is mid-range however I can say, that you get a true quality piece. So that being said, I think the price is fair.

Another store I have to mention is Verishop. I absolutely love this store! They have an amazing selection of elevated fashion, beauty, and lifestyle pieces. My Vince skirt (similar here and similar here) and Free People top (sold out but similar here) are from Verishop. They are also having a sale right now so be sure to check them out!

Lastly, I would love to hear your thoughts about long wool coats. Do you own one? What’s your favorite Winter look?
