Timeless Summer Dresses
Dresses are my thing. Especially summer dresses. I’ve been more mindful lately about buying quality clothing that will last me for years to come. Choosing a timeless summer dress will guarantee your wardrobe is ready season after season, without the need to always buy new. Classic pieces never go out of style and are smarter purchases than leaning into the latest trends. Today I’m sharing a few favorite brands you can rely on for classic, yet modern designs that will be wearable for many summers to come! When it comes to quality, fabric, and design, here are my top picks for summer dresses.
The 80/20 Rule
Quality should come over quantity. Since we generally follow the 80/20 rule when it comes to our closet (we wear 20% of our clothing, 80% of the time), make sure you have good pieces to choose from. You don’t need a ton, you just need pieces you love that will still look good year after year.
I prefer dresses to shorts when the warm weather hits. They are usually lighter and airier than shorts. When it comes to summer dresses, make sure you choose dresses that can be worn for different occasions. In other words, how many evening gowns do you need? One maybe, and maybe not even. A good quality summer dress that can take you from day to night is one that you will likely reach for time and time again. If it’s versatile enough, you will likely reach for it 80% of the summer!
Timeless Summer Dresses
Cotton and linen are my top choices for summer fabrics. Natural fabrics always breathe easier, and keep you cooler than synthetics do. No one wants to stick to their dress. Linen, it’s so iconically summer. Some people shy away from linen due to the high likelihood of wrinkles. Yes, linen does wrinkle easier than other fabrics, such as cotton, but it’s extremely light and comfortable. Plus, the wrinkles will let everyone know that it is linen! Both prints and solids work for various occasions. I like a good print and a good solid summer dress for versatility.
1. Christy Lynn Dresses
If you are into prints, try Christy Lynn clothing for some really great ones (I talk more about the Christy Lynn brand here). Each new collection is inspired by a travel destination or culture. Her vibe is very similar to Zimmermann. She uses high-quality fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk chiffon, and lace. Her designs are truly timeless and unique, and I’ve become hooked!
Christy Lynn: The Lucie Dress
Today, I am wearing her beautiful Lucie dress in the Desert Rose print. This is one of her timeless summer dresses that she creates each season in new prints. One of the things I love about the Christy Lynn brand, is that if you love a print, there is usually another item such as a top, pants, or another dress style in the same print. I have really developed a passion for Christy Lynn clothing. Her quality is amazing as is her love of prints. I find myself eagerly awaiting each collection! You really can’t go wrong with any of her pieces. Sizing runs true to size with most pieces having a generous fit.
2. Hermoza: Swim and Resort
Not only does Hermoza offer a beautiful selection of modest swimsuits, but they also have a gorgeous selection of classic dresses. They pride themselves on affordable luxury that you can wear from day to night. And you really can. Each new collection offers fun prints with beautiful styles. From maxi dresses, to mini dresses, there is a style for everyone.
Pia Dress
I’m wearing the Pia dress by Hermoza. This 100% cotton poplin dress is easy and comfortable. Their styles generally run a bit relaxed so take your true size. While this dress may look a bit dressy, the casual cotton fabric makes this dress wearable for both day and night. I love the full length but feel free to get this one hemmed if you prefer more of a midi style. The entire collection is made mainly from cotton, and come in a variety of styles and prints. You can count on them for dreamy floral prints, and a great selection of solids you will reach for year after year. This one I’m wearing has slight puffed sleeves and is darling! Here are some other favorites from the collection.
3. Marta Scarampi Brand
Solid cotton summer dresses have my heart too. Especially the cream Cherrie dress made by Marta Scarampi (read my previous Marta Scarampi post here). It’s the little details that really make a dress stand out. Notice the ruffle collar and shoulder detail, along with the circle hem skirt and tie-waist. It’s such a classic feminine style that Grace Kelly would have loved! Plus you can match it to any color accessories. The great thing about solid dresses is the endless options for accessories. Feel free to dress them up or keep them casual.
Cherrie Dress
The Cherrie dress is your choice for simple, elegant style. Think of it as your alternative to the iconic little white dress. This cream hue is slightly warmer, making it a great choice for any skin complexion. This dress can be worn to work, dinner, or strolling through town seeking out a local cafe. A must-have summer dress that you will reach for year after year. Sizing is true to size with a tailored fit. Check your bust and waist measurements on the product page for the best size.
4. Agua by Agua Bendita
Here I am wearing the coveted brand, Agua by Agua Bendita. This Columbian brand has become a summer fashion staple over the last several years. Every time I post a photo wearing one of their dresses, I have people reaching out to me asking if I would sell it to them. They generally sell-out quick!
Agua Bendita Nispero Dress
Here I am wearing the popular Nispero dress. This is one of their classic (and most popular) styles that they do in a new print each season. This coral dress mixed with a tropical print is inspired by their native Columbia. I absolutely love the feel of their soft linen. This is a dress that you can wear to a wedding or out to brunch. Just change your shoes! I tend to think of Agua by Agua Bendita dresses as modern day heirlooms. The prints are exquisitely made and so very unique. A fashion lover collector’s item for sure! Sizing tends to runs on the small side, especially in the bust. If you are in-between sizes, I would recommend to size up.
When it comes to maintaining a wardrobe that will serve you year after year, and not trend after trend, look towards classic or unique designs. The classics are the pieces that never go out of style, but are re-invented by designers to keep them looking fresh and current. These four brands I talk about here Christy Lynn, The Hermoza, Marta Scarampi, and Agua by Agua Bendita are modern classics that have become my go-to for original yet timeless style.

The 80/20 rules is absolutely something I need to keep in mind, especially when going through my closet to find clothing to sell or donate. Sometimes it’s so hard to let go, haha! You looks beautiful in the photos you featured, and I absolutely love the combination if the Nispero dress and the handbag you chose to go along with it. Lovely outfits!

Thank you so much Sydney! When you think about it, it’s so true. We really don’t wear all of our clothes. These dresses are all favorites of mine! Definitely ones I’ll reach for time and time again. 😉
