The Cut-Out Trend: How to Wear it
The cut-out trend is big for Spring 2022 fashion. We are seeing all forms of cut-outs in tops, dresses, and swimsuits. Think of strategically placed cut-outs to reveal certain body parts like waist, lower back, and collarbone. While this trend may not appeal to everyone (admittedly I was not a fan at first), there are many tasteful options that you can wear pretty much anywhere. In fact, there are so many tasteful options, that I’m actually loving this new cut-out trend for spring. Here’s how I’m styling it, and some of my favorite options to choose from.
The biggest challenge with the spring cut-out trend is feeling comfortable showing off areas where clothing is cut. To combat this, you need to search for less revealing cut-outs that highlights just one area instead of two like this one which shows off both sides of the waist. For me personally, I love the lower back cut-outs. They are tasteful and leave enough to the imagination.
The Cut-out Jumpsuit
One of my favorite finds while researching this trend is this jumpsuit from Mango. The pattern is such a fun mix of pink, green, and blue. The shirt style collar and button-down design make this almost a conservative option. Turn around and you reveal a little pop of the lower back. It’s eye-catching but not overdone, and definitely tasteful. Sizing for this cut-out jumpsuit is true to Mango size. I’m wearing a size XS (size 0-2).

Overall this outfit is so perfect for a spring or summer evening out. I love the subtle showing of the lower back. I know this will be a go-to of mine for summer dinners out by the beach. The Cut-out Maxi Dress Trend
I love a good maxi dress. Being petite (I’m 5’2″) doesn’t make finding a good maxi easy. Thank goodness J.Crew is still providing options to us petites! This maxi dress from J.Crew is one of my favorite dresses they have this season. The cotton poplin fabric makes it very casual and great for every day wear. I’ve paired it with my flat sandals and tote bag for a day of shopping. This dress is comfortable, breathable, and tasteful with just a peek of the lower back exposed.
