The Curated Trench Coat Review
If you do not already know about The Curated, this woman owned Scandinavian company focuses on sustainable luxury and honest prices. Their aesthetic is timeless designs with minimalist elegance. It very much fits into the Quiet Luxury trend. It’s minimal yet ultra chic designs are what keeps their customers coming back for more.
My love for The Curated started with their Classic wool coat. I will say this- as a blogger, I get to try lots of really great products, whether it’s from my own purchases or gifted to me by brands. The Curated Classic coat is my favorite coat that I own. The quality is impeccable, the design is timeless, and the fit is very modern. When I saw that The Curated was redesigning their trench coat this season, I knew I had to try one. Today I’m sharing my review of The Curated trench coat.
The Curated Trench Coat Review
My first impression of the tailored trench coat was old school luxury. The carefully thought-out design, with it’s straight silhouette, slightly rounded collar, and tortoiseshell buckle has all the details in a very high-end trench coat. But at a much nicer price point. This is a coat to wear for any and everyday. Being such dreamer, I love how the brand states that this design is inspired by the Danish girl riding her bike through the streets of Copenhagen. Makes me want to grab my trench and take a trip out there!
The Curated Trench Coat Sizing
If you already own the Classic coat, you can take your same size in the Tailored Trench coat. I’m wearing a size XXS (for reference I am 5’2″ (157 cm). Size XXS converts to a European size 34 and a UK 6. This is designed for a relaxed fit. As you can see from the photos, the fit is roomy but not bulky. Plus you can cinch the waist as little or as much as you like. The length on this size XXS is 43″ from the top of the shoulder to the hem. That makes this is a great petite-friendly trench coat option.
Quality and Materials
The Curated is a very high-quality brand overall. This trench coat is made from 100% cotton, with a 100% silk lining. The side pockets are deep and also lined in silk. The stitching is tight and very well made. I have an older Burberry trench coat in a traditional double breasted style. While that is very well made, I much prefer this Curated Trench coat for its modern classic style and overall effortless vibe. Plus the design is much more comfortable and roomy. This is available in the color I’m wearing called Honey, and in a beautiful sage green color.
Affordable Luxury Prices
While everyone’s idea of affordable may vary, for the quality of The Curated trench coat, this is a very affordable price. Let me put it into perspective for you. I purchased and returned this J.Crew Icon trench coat. The price comparison for J.Crew is $348 vs The Curated at $375. While the J.Crew trench felt rigid and heavy, The Curated coat feels light and flexible. You can actually move comfortably in it. Plus I think the slightly longer length of The Curated trench coat makes this option more versatile. You can wear this with everything from jeans to maxi dresses. For the small price difference, The Curated trench coat is much nicer.
Another example is this Burberry Trench coat. The style is very similar but look at the price difference. Since The Curated prices are already set fairly, you will likely not find discount codes or sales with these pieces.
Where to buy
Currently The Curated is only available at their own retail stores, select locations, or on their website. To shop in person, The Curated is stocked exclusively at the Galeries Lafayette throughout France, at The Curated in Melbourne, Norway, and Copenhagen.
Is The Curated Coat Worth It?
Overall, I highly recommend this trench coat and The Curated as a whole. I think their quality is higher than most mid-tier stores and is right up their with luxury brands. Pricing is reasonable too. Hello, is this Honey color as vibrant in person as it is in your photos? The pictures online make the color seem much darker.
