Sezane Meredick coat review

Sezane Coats I Own and Love

It’s that time of the year where we start thinking about heavier winer coats. Or maybe you live somewhere mild and just need a light jacket. If you have been following me for a while, you know that I love the French brand Sezane. I have several reviews dedicated to them, plus a lot of my other posts feature their outfits. They are a brand I really love for their timeless yet modern designs. Today I want to share my thoughts and sizing, materials, and styles for the Sezane coats I own and love (incase you’re looking too!).

I have been a customer of Sezane since the beginning. Before the first store opened in the US (you can check out an early post inside the store here). A lot has changed since then as far as easier and faster shipping, more sizes and styles available, and more physical stores. If you have the opportunity to visit one of the Sezane stores, I highly recommend it. The interior design is so perfectly French!

Sezane coats are one of the most anticipated collections of the year because of the unique styles and fabrics. You can always find a beautiful color, or vintage inspired pattern. Coats are one of those wardrobe staples where you want to balance quality and price. These high quality coats are worth a look. Let’s get into my review of the Sezane coats I own and love, which I hope will help you when deciding which winter coat to purchase. I will add to this post as I get more of these darling coats!

Sezane Coats Review

With so many Sezane coats to choose from, it can be hard deciding. Here are my favorite styles. Note that Sezane often brings back popular styles, but not always in the same color. But if you have a favorite style, chances are they will bring it back.

Sezane Coat Sizing

Please note that I am 5′ 2″ (62 cm) tall. So you can see how these coat styles fit on a petite frame. A lot of their coats run a little bit oversized. I try to choose more tailored styles to not overwhelm my frame. Now on to the review in no particular order…

Sezane Johnson Coat Review

The Sezane Johnson coat is your classic tailored coat. The mid length style is versatile for the most casual and the most formal of occasions. It has a straight cut with double breasted buttons. This is one of the more slim fit coats. It’s made from a 75% wool blend and it is lined! I wear it in a size 2.

I love the Johnson coat for elevating a casual jeans and loafers outfit, for wearing to work, and for dressier occasions. If you are only getting one Sezane coat, I would recommend the Johnson coat for it’s versatility and timeless style. I actually own it in several colors! It’s safe to say it’s my favorite style.

James Coat

Sezane James coat review

The Sezane James coat is a “borrowed from the boys” look. It has a large shawl collar and double breasted buttons. It has a slightly oversized look. It’s great for contrasting more feminine outfits when you don’t want to look too girly. It’s made from 75% wool and is lined.

I love this wool James coat for more casual looks. Paired with jeans, it gives a casual and effortless vibe. The James coat is a great coat for the office too. It’s versatile enough to wear with very casual outfits, as well as with business casual outfits. I wear a size 2. It is roomy but not overwhelmingly so.

Sezane Mederick Coat

The Mederick coat is your classic wrap coat. Think of classic MaxMara but more tailored. It is double sided 100% wool, so it is not lined. I’m wearing the Sand color in size 2. It looks slightly pink on the Sezane website, however in person it is more of an ivory color. I find the length fine and not too long for petites. There are no buttons on this Mederick coat so use the belt to adjust your fit.

I love wrap coats for their easy and elegant style. This type of coat is so versatile that you can really wear it with anything. I actually really love wearing them with super casual looks. You can often find me at the grocery store in winter wearing leggings, sneakers, a sweater, and topped off with a wrap coat. It instantly elevates any outfit.

Here I’m wearing the Mederick coat with this maxi dress which is one of my favorite Sezane dresses, and is new this season.

Sezane Scott Trench Coat

For the in-between seasons and milder temperatures, the Scott Trench coat is a true classic. I love this one for crisp fall nights and cooler spring days. Made from 100% organic cotton, the Scott trench coat runs true to size. If you prefer a roomier fit, take the next size up. I’m wearing a size 0.

I always get lots of questions about the Scott trench coat. It’s a very popular style. It has some weight to it so it keeps you warm. I consider this your most traditional trench coat style. It has buttoned tabs at the shoulders and cuffs (much like a Burberry trench coat), and a belt. This is as timeless as you get with trench coats.

I love to style trench coats with classic ballet slippers for the ultimate in French chic. The great thing about trench coats is their versatility. You can wear them with so many different looks, for different occasions. They are a great timeless French capsule wardrobe staples!

Sezane coats are worth taking a look at. The balance of quality and price is good. Coats can be very expensive. I think that they are fairly priced for what you get. When looking for timeless coats I always look to Sezane. Not only are the styles classic yet updated for a modern lifestyle, but also have a vintage charm which I love.
