Pastel Coats For Winter or Spring

Pastel coats can brighten your mood instantly, whether its Spring transition, or the middle of winter funk. It’s been cold here on the East coast. I mean really cold! Spring seems so far away, yet I’m thinking of all things warm and choosing to buy for Spring, over winter. A great coat is really all you need in the cold months, and here area few pastel colors, reminiscent of a box of French Macaroons, to carry you to Spring.

When winter hits hard, the only way to keep warm is to layer. Layering under a coat is easy. A great sweater and jeans are perfect for most occasions, while some call for a little more elegance such as a skirt and knee high boots. No matter what you choose, your coat will be the star winter fashion staple. And a pastel coat will make it stand out!

The perfect pastel colors can be found in a box of French macaroons. This is what inspired me to write this post. Soft, muted shades are always my favorite to wear. There are so many great pastel coat options right now. Think of them as your perfect Winter to Spring coat. Here are my favorites.

As a child of the 80’s, “Pretty in Pink” references the cult- classic movie, however today I’m talking about pink coats. While pink can be considered a very girly color, I think there is a shade of pink to suit everyone. Sticking with complementary colors keeps the look sweet and feminine, while contrasting it makes it very modern and chic.

This bright pink hue is so fun and really very up-lifting. If you need a mood boost, try wearing some pink! For a casual yet effortless look, I’m wearing bootcut jeans to help balance out the brighter pink hue. Wearing contrasting colors here with this yellow top, and the coordinating gingham bag brings all the Spring vibes!

In addition to bright pinks, I also love a pretty pastel tone. You can see my previous post here where I’m wearing my pale pink Vince coat. This is one I reach for time and time again! It’s perfect for the frigid early Spring months.

There can’t be a color with more shades than the color blue. Being a #blueandwhiteforever lover, I adore all shades of blue. Pastel blue will always have a slight advantage though. The cool tone of this pastel blue coat compliments the cold winter weather we are feeling now. Pastel coats are a great transition piece from Winter to Spring. I especially love a pastel blue as it transcends the seasons so well.

To keep the look classic yet modern, I’m wearing the same shade pleated skirt. Monochrome looks are always an easy way to look polished and put together. I also really love a satin slip skirt with its subtle sheen. It’s just enough detail to make the look interesting. Here are some of my top picks to ease your winter blues….

Is there a prettier shade than lavender? Feelings of lavender fields in the summer, wisteria vines, and bulbs of Hydrangea, this color is such a statement. It’s not always easy to find, however if you are looking for a feminine but modern statement coat, this color is it. The oversized collar of this one is very of-the-moment. Big collars are everywhere. Although they can give off an Elizabethan era vibe, the key to making it work is how you style it. I love this extremely feminine coat with my slightly distressed straight-leg jeans.

Yellow is a very personal color. While some people favor pale yellow, others like to go bright and bold. I think softer yellows are easier to coordinate but I do love a bright yellow in the summer! This coat is a very pale yellow, almost Ecru. It’s a very neutral and easy shade to wear. Being petite (I’m 5’2″), I do find long coats somewhat difficult to wear. Depending on the style, a coat that is too long can appear frumpy in my opinion. But with the right lines and shape, it can be elegant. This coat was a risk due to the long length. I wasn’t sure if it would work. But the slightly cinched in waist detail gives a little dimension and a lengthening effect. The result is a super chic look! I’ve paired it with a sweater dress that I absolutely love!

Here are some other pastel coats in the yellow and green family:

I hope you enjoyed this post and feel inspired to add some pastels to your wardrobe!
