Easy Spring Transition Style

Spring is closer than you think. Believe it or not. Although February is the shortest month of the year, it sure seems like the longest. I have my eye on Spring though, and am keeping Spring transition style in mind with all of my purchases. I love double duty clothing and these key pieces can carry you through three seasons out of the year.

Key Piece 1: Transition Coat

The coat! It is one of, if not the most, essential wardrobe item for most of the country. It is an essential for colder months, and let’s face it, if you’re living on the East coast, it is by far more important than what you’re wearing under your coat. First, for warmth. And second, for style. Put anything on underneath, it really doesn’t matter.

For Spring transition in particular, I love pastel colored coats. It effortlessly keeps you moving right into Spring. While still heavy enough to keep you warm, the color is soft enough for a floral backdrop on a cold, early Spring day.

When I saw this sage green coat from Proenza Schouler (similar one here), it was immediate love. It is a very oversized fit (I’m actually wearing a size XXS), which is so reminiscent of the iconic MaxMara Teddy coats. The extra bulk however, is off-set by the beautiful muted hue. A perfect coat for Spring transition style.

Key Piece 2: Midi Dress (of course!)

Of course I have to add a midi dress in here. I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t. My favorite wardrobe item by far, the midi dress is my all-time staple. What I love about them most, is how versatile they are. They truly can be paired with boots for colder days, pumps for a dressy occasion, or sandals for warm or casual days. Multi-colored dresses are your best bet for Spring transition style. Your options for pairing are increased. That will give you more wear out of the items that are already in your closet.

This stunner from Zimmermann checks every box for me (similar here and here). I love the long sleeves for cooler days or nights. However, it’s still sheer enough to not be too hot in the heat. The muted color palette lends itself to match a wide variety of accessories. I’ve paired this with both the sage green Proenza Schouler coat, and my Pink Vince coat (similar one here and here ) to play off both colors in the dress.  Which one is your favorite?

Key Piece 3: Floral Earrings

Yes, floral earrings are a key Spring transition piece. Especially when it is a statement floral from Hazen & Co (similar here). They have such a great selection of earrings! I actually bought this green floral pair before purchasing the coat. What I love about green, is that it is nature’s neutral. Every color of the rainbow goes with green. So I knew it would be a smart purchase.

“Florals? For Spring? Ground Breaking.”, as Miranda Priestly would say. But yes, Miranda, they are. By the time we have a all suffered through the cold frost of winter, we are ready for florals! Make them as big as possible too. They will elevate the most casual outfit and make it Spring ready.

Here are my favorite Spring transition accessories for you to shop now. Enjoy!
