AYR High Hopes Pants Review: Fit, Sizing & How I Wear Them

The AYR High Hopes pants might just be the comfortable pants you’ve been looking for. They feel like lightweight sweatpants, but have a polished look that works with both sneakers and heels. In this AYR High Hopes pants review, I’m sharing why they’ve become one of my favorite alternatives to jeans.

I’ve been wearing AYR for years, starting with the Pop jeans. The High Hopes pants are the second pair of pants I’ve tried from the brand. If you’ve been considering getting yourself a pair, I’m sharing how they fit, what makes them so comfortable, and how I style them for everything from casual days to dinner out.

My AYR High Hopes Pants Review

These are the pants that really surprised me. I didn’t expect them to be as comfortable or as versatile as they are. I find myself reaching for them mostly for casual daytime outfits when I don’t want to wear jeans.

The fabric is a soft blend of Pima cotton, modal, and spandex. They have the comfort of lounge pants, but the way they drape gives them the look of polished black pants. I can wear them all day without feeling restricted, and I love that I can change my shoes and top to dress them up for dinner.

I also really appreciate the different inseam options. The High Hopes pants come in short, regular, and long inseams. At 5’2″, the short inseam is long enough to wear with heels, but short enough that the pants don’t drag on the floor when I wear sneakers.

AYR High Hopes Pants Sizing: Do They Run True to Size?

I wear my usual size XS in the AYR High Hopes pants, and I find them true to size. For reference, I wear a size 24 in AYR jeans. The fit is relaxed, with a high-rise waist. The waistband feels soft and comfortable without digging in when I sit. They also have a straight-leg shape with a flattering drape.

Are the AYR High Hopes Pants Good for Petites?

At 5’2″, finding full-length pants that work with both flats and heels isn’t always easy. Even when a style comes in a short inseam, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s short enough to wear with flats. So these are a 100% win for me.

The short inseam is long enough to wear with heels, but doesn’t drag on the floor when I wear sneakers. I also find the high-rise comfortable, and the pockets sit at just the right height on my petite frame. I didn’t need any alterations, which makes these a really good option if you’re petite and want a pair of full-length black pants you can wear with different shoes.

AYR High Hopes vs. Brava Pants

I’ve also tried the AYR Brava pants, and I much prefer the High Hopes. The Brava have a slimmer fit with a kick flare, while the High Hopes have a more relaxed, straight-leg shape. I found the Brava a little tight in my usual size XS.

The Brava pants also come in shorter inseam lengths overall, which may be worth considering if you’re petite. But I prefer the longer, straighter leg of the High Hopes. They have a more modern look to me, and I find them easier to wear with different shoes and outfits.

How I Style the AYR High Hopes Pants

Casual with Sneakers

These are the kind of pants I can wear all day and still feel pulled together. For casual days when I’m running around, I like to wear them with a soft sweater. I have this sweater in both cotton and cashmere, and in multiple colors. This sweater is especially nice for petites because of the shorter, but not cropped length. I also have a code you can use for 10% off your first purchase- TARAT10.

These are also the kind of pants I would pack for travel. They’re comfortable enough that I’d wear them for a long flight or car ride, and they’d still look polished when I arrive. I also like that I can pack one pair and wear them casually with sneakers during the day, then dress them up with heels for dinner.

Dressed Up With Heels

These might just be the perfect Thanksgiving dinner pants. They’re incredibly soft and comfortable, but they look polished enough for a holiday dinner. While I love these pants for casual outfits, they make getting dressed up more comfortable too.

I wear them with a pretty top and heels for an easy dinner outfit. You would never guess from looking at them that they’re made from a soft cotton blend. They have the look of tailored black pants, and I especially love how the fabric drapes down the leg with heels.

Are the AYR High Hopes Pants Worth It?

Yes, I think the AYR High Hopes pants are worth the splurge, especially since you get completely different looks from one pair of pants. I reach for mine most often during the day when I want an alternative to jeans, but I love that I can dress them up for dinner too. They’re just as comfortable as my favorite lounge pants, but I can wear them out of the house without feeling like I’m wearing sweats. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a nice pair of pants you can rely on for so many occasions.

If you’re looking specifically for AYR denim, I’ve worn several of their jeans and have an AYR jeans review with fit and sizing information on the styles I wear most.
