What to Wear to the Theatre

Wondering what to wear to the theatre doesn’t have to be hard. I love live performances. Maybe it was my years in dance as a child that got me to love the theatre. I always thought it as so exciting to perform on a real stage. In fact, my secret dream career was and still is to perform on Broadway. Not that I can sing or act, but dancing has always been a love for me.

We often go as a family, or just my husband and I to the local theatre or to a Broadway show. I often find myself wondering what to wear to the theatre. You want to be comfortable but also stylish. Jeans and a nice blouse can be an option but I tend to want to wear something a little dressier. That’s where the jumpsuit comes in handy.

Now, I almost feel like a broken record but I love versatile pieces. A jumpsuit can be worn with flat slides or a stiletto heel and look equally great. They have that balance between casual and dressy which I love. One with a nice soft fabric will keep you comfortable and cool if the temperatures are warm. All you need to do is add a light blazer if it’s cool.

This jumpsuit was another recent find of mine from Ann Taylor. It’s so chic with the high neck and tie waist. The fabric is nice and light too. Plus the fact that it is black, really lends to a day-to-night look. I’ve added my Chanel sling backs that go with just about everything in my wardrobe. I can honesty wear these with about 90% of my closet. I love a white shoe in general, but these have that extra special yellow touch. Just the right shade of yellow that makes it almost neutral. I wish Chanel would start selling online, but for now, you will have to find a boutique to get them or try The Real Real. If you prefer the classic black & white, is an amazing pair that is available now for a little bit of a savings.

Now let’s talk about this bag! Shrimps did it again with another “it” bag. If you read my previous post, you will know how much I love the quality of the Shrimps bags. They are really sturdy while still looking dainty at the same time. This is another versatile piece. It can dress up a jeans and tee outfit, or can be your perfect accessory to your next formal event. It’s definitely a conversation starter!

The next time you have tickets, don’t wonder what to wear to the theatre. Just try a jumpsuit. It will make you feel pulled together while still being comfortable.
