Some occasions may be formal and call for dresses, while others just call for your best version of you. During the last several years, that version for me, has often meant a comfortable pants outfit. Having young kids at family parties has made me often choose pants over dresses.  I am always chasing somebody around, playing on the floor, or dealing with a meltdown. Dresses will always have my heart. I absolutely love a good dress, but pants often win because of practicality. I’m always on the look out for comfortable yet dressy (but not too dressy) pants. Ones that can be dressed up with pumps or dressed down with my Sam Edelman slides.

Whether it’s Easter brunch, a baby shower, or a casual family lunch, you should always have a pants option. An unexpected chilly or rainy day will have you feeling so relieved you have a pair of pants to wear. While black is always an option, try something a little more unexpected such as a floral, or some other kind of print such as  from Anthropologie . You will feel great knowing that you are wearing something a little extra special.

Here I am wearing these light airy pants from Aritzia.  The colors are what really drew me in.  There is something so “Spring time” about lavender and green together.  These colors always remind me of Easter and new beginnings.  I chose to pair the pants with this beautiful lavender blouse from Sandro but I also really love this for a more casual Saturday afternoon look.  Plus the mix of patterns is really fun.

The kids are getting a little older (they will be 7 soon!). So my days of chasing around little ones at parties are sadly numbered.  But I still like having my wardrobe options.  The forecast for Easter this weekend is calling for rain.  I’m hoping it holds out for the egg hunt, but I have my dress and pants ready for any last-minute changes!
