Vacation Outfits I’m Coveting This Summer
Planning for vacations is not only about selecting the right location, the perfect hotel, and choosing the best local activities. It’s also about planning your vacation outfits. You want to choose the right outfits for your destination so you are comfortable and confident. You also want to pack versatile pieces that you can mix and match for several different vacation outfit options. This is key to avoid overpacking.
But what should you pack for vacation? Finding the perfect balance between comfort and style is essential when it comes to creating chic vacation outfits that will make you look and feel fabulous. Today I’m sharing chic outfit ideas and stylish tips for you to wear while exploring new destinations. Let’s go travel together!
Vacation Outfits
Tropical Vacation Outfits
In addition to swimsuits and cover-ups, the hot summer sun and warm breezes of tropical vacations call for sundresses, linen and cotton pieces to mix and match, and breathable shoes. Espadrilles or raffia loafers are great dinner outfit options, while flip flops and flat sandals will be your day time choices. This is your time to have fun with prints and color.
European Vacation Outfits
The style in Europe is a bit more dressy and polished than it is here in the US. Wearing t-shirts is fine but instead of denim shorts, pair it with linen shorts or chino shorts. You can absolutely dress casual but keep it put together. Stick with neutral colors in your European vacation outfits. Not only will you be able to mix and match outfits easier, and with less clothing items, but you will also not stand out as a tourist. Try wearing chic sundresses, tailored pants or shorts, and stylish flats or loafers. These are my go-to loafers when I’d rather be wearing sneakers. They are that comfortable! Choose a neutral color and you are good to go! I wear a size 7 in this style.
Greek Vacation Outfits
Traveling to Greece brings up visions of the vibrant blue of the Mediterranean against the stark white buildings in the cliffside. The narrow alleyways in town leading to the ocean with sprinkling of oleander flowers along the way. Your Greek vacation outfits should include lots of blue and white to match the scenery. Think chic white dresses for dinner, and elegant shorts to explore by day. Greek sandals are a must!
City sightseeing outfits
Exploring new cities is my favorite part about traveling. Getting to know the local culture and trying new foods is what my husband and I look forward to most when vacationing. City sightseeing outfits should consist of comfortable shoes, lightweight tops and bottoms, sunglasses, and a great tote bag. If you do choose to wear sneakers, keep them low profile. A simple style will be more versatile than an athletic sneakers.
Resort Wear Outfits
Many French coastal towns along the Riviera, aka Côte d’Azur, are known for their chic sophisticated resorts. The sandy beaches are lined with rows of striped umbrellas and beach chairs dotting the shoreline. Resort-wear outfits are casual yet elegant pieces, and are a bit dressy, much like business casual is. At night wear flowy dresses, statement jewelry, wedges or heels. During the day you will likely be wearing your swimsuit with white sunglasses and a chic cover-up. Don’t forget your oversized raffia tote for beach and exploring essentials.
Beach Vacation Outfits
Beach vacation outfits are usually a bit more laid back and casual. Afternoons spent lying on the beach, boating, or strolling the boardwalk, calls for beach appropriate attire. Always include swimsuits, cover-ups, sandals, and sun hats. A beautiful sarong or pareo may be enough for a quick trip to the boardwalk for lunch. Sundresses also make great swimsuit cover-ups and double as lunch appropriate attire. For more in -town dining and exploring on beach vacations, be sure to pack light and breathable fabrics to bear the heat in like cottons and linen. Linen shorts and a polished t-shirt are essential!
Mountain Getaway Outfits
Mountain getaways are a great summer vacation idea when you want to escape the heat. It’s always a little cooler in the mountains. You will want summer hiking boots, layers for changing weather, and cozy light sweaters. Opt for comfortable clothing like leggings and shorts. A chic backpack will hold your daily essentials for quick hikes, and double as an extra travel bag.
Tropical Cruise Vacation Outfits
Dresses that can double as swimsuit cover-ups are great for daytime ship activities. For days spent on the ship, opt for light and comfortable clothes like cotton pants and tanks tops. To keep covered from the ocean breeze, choose light sweaters you can pull over top of your tank tops, or a cardigan you can slip right into.
