The Rachel Cape
Capes are your chic alternative to a wool coat. They are a little bit romantic, with a slight nod to an earlier era. The classic cape style is on-trend this season and the options available are better than ever. Rooted in classic style, the Marta Scarampi Rachel cape is your timeless yet modern cape to wear this season!
Capes have been on the fashion scene for centuries. Medieval capes were common wardrobe staples. Even the royals wore capes made of velvets and silk textures. The Victorian era saw capes as a main feature in women’s fashion. Today’s capes have the same romantic feel but made in a modern way that is classic yet modern.
Marta Scarampi Italian Capes
I previously talked about the Mart Scarampi capes in this post here. I introduced the Audrey Deco Cape which is a water-resistant, light-weight cape that is made in Italy. This cape is best suited for warmer weather, transition between seasons, or if you live in a climate that doesn’t get much freeze. Today, I will mention some of Marta Scarampi’s other seasonal capes to wear now that it’s getting colder. As seen in Town & Country, Vogue, and Conde Nast Traveler, Marta Scarampi capes are fashion’s rising star. The sustainability, ease, and style are just a few of what makes Marta Scarampi capes a new classic.
The Rachel Gauguin Cape: Italian Wool
If you are longing to elevate your look, or just want an easy alternative to a wool coat, a wool cape is great for styling with jeans, pants, and a skirt or dress. I am wearing the Marta Scarampi Rachel Gauguin Cape in Navy. This beautiful cape is made from 100% boiled virgin wool (Woolmark wool). The double breasted button closure moves with ease and is such an eye-catching option for outerwear! The nicest thing about a cape, is that your arms are free to move. Sometimes it’s great to have your arms free. Especially during this holiday season when we may be transporting gifts and food dishes to parties. I should also mention that all Marta Scarampi capes now come in a petite option. Just a tad shorter version for us ladies under 5’4″.
The interior of the Rachel Cape is lined with the same shade fabric, making this cape very warm. I love the covered buttons and collar on this cape style. It lends a slight vintage vibe to your look. Since I love a Navy moment, I’ve paired this cape with J.Crew navy pants that I’ve had for several years now. They are such a timeless staple that I seem to wear year after year. I also pulled out a classic white top. The ruffle details pair perfectly well with the Rachel cape. I think it adds such a feminine flair.
This Gauguin cape option is best if you are looking for a heavier, warmer layer to wear as the weather gets colder. Like I mentioned, it’s a great outerwear option and alternative to a coat. Plus it makes for great images on holiday photos and cards!
The Rachel Mondrian Cape: Microfiber Fabric
This cream colored cape is also from Marta Scarampi. It is the Rachel Mondrian Cape in a wrinkle free fabric. This is a much lighter fabric than the Gauguin wool fabric. It is made from a microfiber and is a perfect travel accessory, as it does not wrinkle. This cape is great for cool days and nights, transition into Fall or Spring, or for indoors when you want to add an extra layer. I would reach for this cape as an alternative to a trench coat. Both have the same light feel for milder weather.
What I love about the Mondrian fabric, is the beautiful drape it has over any outfit. The slight swing as you move is really elegant. It has the collar to lend a little detail and warmth. I’m wearing the petite length and it’s perfect.
I’ve paired this Rachel cape with a pair of Theory pants from several years ago. It just proves that classic clothing lasts! There is a similar pair here. This neutral check pattern plays well with the cream colored cape and camel sweater. Since the fabric of the Mondrian is light, coordinating with a chunky knit is essential during late Fall on the East Coast. This classic style also pairs so well with my Sarah Flint Natalie flats. Chic Alternative To A Trench Coat
A cape is a chic alternative to a classic trench coat or light jacket. Both capes are extremely beautiful, timeless, and to be enjoyed for many years to come. Tell me, which one do you prefer?
