What to Read
Do you know how the iconic Veuve Clicquot champagne came to be a worldwide name? It all started with a re-tracked marriage proposal involving the Moet family. This month’s book recommendation is The French House, by Helen Fripp. This historical French fiction novel takes us through the journey of Nicole Clicquot and how she overcomes loss and becomes one of the most recognizable champagne houses in the world, still to this day.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love anything involving French fiction and this was no exception. Other people’s stories are so interesting to me. Call me nosey, maybe? Definitely give the The French House a read if you enjoy learning a little history with your stories.
What to Watch
I just finished washed the Netflix series, Stay Close. This was one of the best mystery series I’ve seen in a while. There are lots of twists and turns and it is so well done. A mom with a past gets caught up in a series of related events. The story really draws you in and keeps you guessing. If you enjoy crime mysteries, I recommend watching this one.
What to Wear
This has been the coldest spring that I can remember! I’ve been living in button up shirts for their ease of style and comfort. Plus I can roll-up my sleeves or leave them down depending on the weather. Some of my recent favorites have included this beautiful floral print from Spartina 449. It’s light floral design is a perfect transition from spring to summer!

What to Do
With summer literally around the corner, I’m getting my summer essentials ready. This year that includes some outdoor items for my home, and for beach travel. Last year I bought this Beach umbrella for day trips to the beach. I really love this, as I like a little reprieve from the sun sometimes. It comes with a bag for easy storage and travel. It is not difficult to set-up at all! You just unfold the pole and tighten the screw so that it stays upright. Since I love versatility, I also like using the Beach umbrella on my patio with the addition of the umbrella base.
There is also a beach blanket that you can purchase separately, that has a small hole in the center so that you can stick your umbrella in the sand. I absolutely love this! This blanket is also great even if you’re not using the umbrella. And it’s big- 87 inches wide!
In addition to the beach umbrella, I’m getting my patio ready. I’m adding some beautiful planters and urns to add my flowers to. Check out my favorites by clicking on the photos below.
