When it comes to fashion accessories, it’s hard to compete with summer bags! Summer is such a great time of year for wearing handbags. You can really have fun with styles, colors, and textures. With so many great summer bags to choose from, I’m breaking down some top picks and brands you need to know. Each one has unique summer bags and brand stories! These are all great picks for summer, or any warm weather getaways.
Summer Bags
J Lowery Bags
Founded by life-long best friends, J Lowery is a fresh take on timeless designs. Wanting to create timeless handbags but with a contemporary edge, these two friends, who became family by marriage, have created a beautiful collection of classic yet modern designs. And are one of the few handbag brands that feature cane materials.
Evoking a hint of iconic Palm Royale vibes, these cane bags are true statements! The attention to details with the gold hardware, removable shoulder straps, and sewn in privacy pouch makes this collection appeal to every modern woman. For a limited time, you can take 10% off your order with TARA10.
Eric Javits Bags
Eric Javits is iconically know for its chic straw hats. After attending art school, where Eric studied painting and sculpture, he became fascinated with the way various forms could flatter the face. This lead to him opening his women’s hat business in 1985. This is when he trademarked the Squishee which is a flexible straw material that is durable, packable, and practical for everyday use. In addition to amazing hats, Eric Javits bags are a need-to-know as well!
The down-to-earth glamour, makes Eric Javits bags very wearable. Each bag is soft yet durable and unbelievably stylish. Take a look at a few of my favorite picks from the collection:
Sezane Raffia Bags
Sezane makes an amazing collection of summer Parisian bags. It’s no secret that Sezane is my most worn brand, for clothing and for accessories. This French brand got its start in vintage clothing. Founder Morgan Sezalory started out by finding and selling vintage clothes on ebay. She would search out vintage pieces online and make her own unique adjustments to them before reselling them on her ebay store. This lead to creating the Sezane brand as we know it today. Inspired by vintage finds and effortless Parisian flair.
Sezane’s summer bags are made from high-quality raffia material and each have an added charm to them. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but the raffia bag I reach for the most is the Jude basket bag. I love the scalloped details.
Mme Mink: Straw Bags
Mme Mink, abbreviated for Madame Mink, is an old-school luxury lifestyle brand. Mink refers to “Many Individual Niceties we Keep”. Founded by Jan Haedrich, who affectionately goes by the name Minky, spent 20+ years designing for luxury fashion houses in Europe. Her expertise and love of travel has inspired her highly covetable Mme Mink brand.
Mme Mink has taken the classic straw bag and made it ultra chic. The brand is best known for its signature ribbon handles. You can choose your favorite bag style and select the ribbon color from classic and seasonal colors available. I have several MmeMink bags and love each one! They are true statement makers and really are so unique.
Here is a curated collection of Mme Mink bags that you need to know:
Summer Bags: Serpui Bags
Serpui is a Brazilian born designer who takes inspiration from her home country. Interesting patterns and fun shapes make her Serpui bags instantly recognizable. She uses cane wicker, bamboo handles, and lots of beads. Along with fun shapes and patterns, her color palette can be easily mixed with any summer outfit you already own. While I have one of the more classic bags from the collection, these other bags are real eye catchers!
Caterina Bertini
Caterina Bertini is another brand to know. The company was founded back in 1925 when they made straw hats for the region of Florentine in Italy. What I love about their bags is the timeless appeal. The inspiration for today’s bags comes from the archives of the company collections from the 1960’s and 1970’s. There is an iconic nostalgia to this and it is working!
Nannacay
The inspiration behind the Nannacay brand comes from founder Marcia Kemp’s travels to exotic destinations, where culture and people were the highlights. During one of her visits to the tribe of Massai in Africa, she witnessed the local craftsmanship and wanted to share this beauty with the world. This idea lead to the creation of Nannacay which means sisterhood. Today Nannacay products are created by local artisans in Peru.
This cherry blossom bucket bag is one of my favorites. It’s an older style but I always get compliments when I wear it due to its unique design. The simplicity coupled with the beauty of these bags make them timeless treasures to carry for years. Here are some Nannacay bags that are currently available:
Summer Bags: Sensi Studio
Sensi Studio was launched in 2010 and includes a collection of Panama hats and handmade accessories. The brand also has a line of embroidered dresses. How fun is that? The founder Stephany Sensi studied Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni in Milan. You can see the Italian influence of her designs. They are effortlessly chic and perfect for taking on a stroll through town. All of the products are manufactured in Ecuador with artisans in a socially responsible manner. Furthermore, the quality is top-notch!
I hope you find this guide helpful when looking for your next summer bags. These brands are well established in making high-quality and beautiful summer bags for your next vacation or just everyday summer style.
