Quince Clothing Review: Is It Worth It? My Honest Take on Quality and Sizing

In this Quince clothing review, I’m sharing the pieces I own, how they fit, and what I think is worth buying. I’ve been shopping at Quince for years, and some of my favorite cashmere sweaters and silk skirts are from the brand. What keeps me coming back is the quality for the price.

I also own cashmere from more expensive brands like Jenni Kayne and La Ligne, and I’ve been surprised by just how well Quince compares. I’ll show you a side-by-side comparison of the Quince and Jenni Kayne Fisherman sweaters, along with my favorite Quince pieces.

Is Quince Good Quality?

Yes, and that’s one of the main reasons I’ve continued shopping at Quince for years. I have cashmere and cotton sweaters, silk skirts, and linen pieces that I’ve worn for several seasons, and they’ve all held up really well. I actually find Quince cashmere to be a little softer than cashmere from J.crew and Naadam.

One question I always get is about cashmere pilling. Friction can cause pilling, even with expensive cashmere. I use a sweater comb to gently remove the pills when needed. And I store my sweaters in these under-bed storage bins during the warmer months, which helps keep them protected until I’m ready to wear them again.

Why Is Quince So Affordable?

Quince uses a factory-direct business model, working directly with manufacturers and selling to customers online rather than through retail stores. This helps them keep prices lower than many other clothing brands.

I admit, I was skeptical when I first saw their cashmere prices. I wondered how a sweater could cost so much less than similar styles from other brands and still be good quality. But after owning and wearing Quince clothing for years, I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Quince Cashmere Review

Cashmere is one of the things I shop for most at Quince, so it’s a big part of this Quince clothing review. I love that they offer everything from relaxed fisherman knits to more tailored sweaters, and I’ve found several styles that work particularly well on my petite frame. Here are four of my favorites.

Quince Cashmere Fisherman Sweater

This is probably my most-worn Quince sweater, and I own it in several colors. I love how lofty it is, and the textured fisherman knit has always been one of my favorite styles. It has a relaxed fit, so I generally wear it with a full or front tuck.

I also own the Jenni Kayne Fisherman sweater, and they’re remarkably similar. I’ll show you the differences in the comparison below.

Quince Structured Cashmere Cardigan

This cardigan reminds me of the beautiful sculpted cardigans from Khaite, but at a much more affordable price. Unlike a traditional cardigan that hangs straight down, it has a defined waist and an almost jacket-like shape. The knit is heavier, making it especially cozy. The sleeves are a little long on my petite frame, and I sometimes wear them cuffed. I’m wearing my usual XS.

Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater

The classic crewneck is one of Quince’s most popular styles, and for good reason. It’s a simple, timeless sweater that I find myself reaching for again and again. Compared to the Fisherman, it has a slimmer fit and a smoother knit, so it’s a nice option when I want something a little less bulky. I have it in several colors.

Quince Cashmere V-Neck Sweater

The V-neck is one of those classic sweaters that works with just about everything. I have it in ivory, and it’s a beautiful option when I want something simple that I can wear with pants or a skirt. It feels slightly more relaxed than the crewneck sweater does.

Quince Vs Jenni Kayne Cashmere

 

I own the cashmere Fisherman sweater from both Quince and Jenni Kayne, and they’re surprisingly similar. Both have that beautiful, lofty texture I love, with very little difference in softness or thickness.

The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the fit. The Quince Fisherman has slightly wider arms and a more relaxed shape, while the Jenni Kayne version is just a bit more tailored. I’m wearing an XS in both, and the difference is so subtle that I don’t think most people would notice.

So, which would I buy? I love both sweaters, but if you’re deciding between the two, I’d recommend Quince. You get such a similar look and feel for significantly less, and I don’t think you need to spend more to get that beautiful fisherman style.

Quince Silk Review

Quince’s washable silk is another favorite of mine, especially their slip skirts. I own several colors, and they’ve become staples in my wardrobe. At 5’2″, I love that the midi skirts are actually midi length on me rather than hitting closer to my ankles. They also offer maxi-length silk skirts if you prefer something longer.

When it comes to wearing silk, I’ll admit it’s not a fabric I reach for a lot. Mainly because it requires so much care. But with Quince silks, I don’t worry about it and feel confident wearing them. Be sure to double the label, but you can wash your silk in the delicate cycle (just don’t use hot water), and lay flat to dry.

Quince Linen Clothing Review

For summer months and mid-winter travels, their linen collection is one you want to look at. I have several pieces I love wearing as matching sets, and as separates. The European linen fitted tank fits true to size, but I’d suggest sizing up in this style if you have a larger bust. Although there is some smocking in the back, there is not too much give.

The European linen pants on the other hand are very relaxed, with an elastic waistband. I do love combining a fitted top with relaxed pants. It’s a great casual look that still feels really pulled together. Overall I love the linen collection and will be adding more linen pieces to my collection.

How Does Quince Clothing Fit? Sizing and Petite Fit Notes

In my experience, Quince clothing generally runs true to size, although the fit varies a little by style. I’m 5’2″ and typically wear an XS in Quince.

Their cashmere sweaters fit true to size, with some styles, like the Fisherman, designed to be a little more relaxed. The silk tops tend to run slightly larger, and I do wish Quince offered an XXS because I find them a little roomy on my petite frame.

I’ve also had good luck with their silk midi skirts. The length works really well for my height, hitting at an actual midi length rather than closer to my ankles. Their linen pieces vary more by style. The fitted linen tank is quite fitted, while the linen pants have a much more relaxed cut.

Overall, I’d recommend starting with your usual size, but paying attention to whether the particular style is designed to be fitted or relaxed.

Is Quince Clothing Worth It?

For me, absolutely. Their cashmere sweaters are some of my most-worn pieces, especially the Fisherman and classic crewneck. I also love their silk skirts, which have held up beautifully over the years.

If you’re new to Quince, I’d start with one of their cashmere sweaters. They’re what first made me love the brand, and they’re still what I recommend most.
