80's fashion trend 2019

Dress: Nanushka (similar and affordable here)| Bag: Prada (affordable here) | Shoes: Fendi (affordable here)

The 80’s had a lot of trends going on.  From big shoulders, to pleated pants, and scrunchies, the 80’s were about bold fashion statements.  This one trend is coming back in a modern way.  Leave it to Nanushka to take this 80’s trend and make it oh so modern and fresh!

The 80’s fashion trends bring back scary images of bright neon, big hair, and overly done denim on denim.  So much denim in fact, that we can easily sum up the 80’s as the decade of denim.  Light wash denim in particular was an 80’s fashion staple.  From jeans to jackets to dresses, the lighter the wash the better.  This denim trend is back in a big way, and I’m actually excited about it.

This light wash denim dress from Nanushka has all the 80’s vibes going on while still being very current.  No big shoulders here, just a nice fitted silhouette that is super flattering.  The mini length is very 80’s while the accentuated waist with it’s modern buckle makes it very relevant. This go-to wardrobe item can be paired from day to night, casual to dressy, all by accessorizing.

For those of you not yet familiar with Nanushka, it is a modern label from Budapest. The brand mission is very inspiring taking cues from different cultures and time with the goal of creating function with flair.  The idea of effortlessly mixing the day to night wardrobe while still maintaining an informal yet polished vibe, is a goal of mine.  This dual function attitude is exactly where we are headed in this sustainable fashion journey.  Reducing the need for strict purposes, a versatile wardrobe is a very current way of thinking.  And we have Nanushka leading the way not only with their adaptable clothing mission, but also with sustainable materials such as vegan leather.  I’ll definitely be adding some of those to my Fall wardrobe.

I love Nanushka for giving this 80’s trend a modern update with sustainability deeply rooted into the process.  This wearable wardrobe item will be a staple of mine through the Fall.  In fact, add a chunky sweater over top and some patterned tights, and this will take you through winter as well!  Versatility is key.  Buy right and you you can use your wardrobe all year long.

What do you think of the light denim trend?  Are you on-board yet?
