How to Style White Jeans

If you find yourself wondering how to style white jeans, you are not alone. There is something about them that makes them a little trickier to style then regular blue jeans. Here I will share some inspiration on how to choose the best style of white jeans and how to wear them!

First, you have to consider the style of the jeans. You have straight-leg, skinny, bootcut, flare, and wide leg jeans to choose from. This year, straight-leg jeans have officially taken over the top spot that skinny legs have long held.

In addition to rise and silhouette, you have so many denim options when it comes to rinse and color. While I love darker denim for Fall and Winter, I tend to gravitate towards a little wash for spring and summer. White jeans bridge the gap from winter to spring, and summer to Fall, so well. The key to how to style white jeans is in the fit.

Choosing the right fit

Choosing jeans with the right fit can be a task. You need to choose between high-rise, mid-rise, and sorry to say this but low-rise is a trend again. I left that trend in my 20’s and I’m keeping it there. I tend to go up a size when shopping for white jeans. While traditional blue jeans look great in my size, white jeans always seem to look tighter. Especially if they have a high spandex percentage in them.

I like my white jeans to fit comfortably, not be see-through, and not show every curve of my lower half. That’s why I tend to choose straight-leg or bootcut jeans when choosing white denim. Straight-leg jeans are my favorite and the most versatile option. They look great with any shoe style and any top silhouette. Here you will see a few options for how I style my white straight-leg jeans.

Style with a Button-down shirt

Grayson Linen shirt

Try keeping things light with a pastel shirt like this one from Grayson, to carry this look through the spring and summer season. I love an easy and slightly oversized shirt to balance out the white jeans. It keeps the outfit casual and effortless. Great for an everyday put together look. My Tory Burch jeans are sold out, however this pair of button fly jeans is very similar an a better price point!

As the weather gets warmer, try a gingham top to keep with the summer vibes. Gingham is a great pattern to dress up or keep casual. I love white jeans and gingham for some Nantucket vacation vibes. The straight-leg jean is a great option as it balances out the slightly oversized flounce sleeves. Add a straw bag for extra texture.

Style with a Puff sleeve top

A puff sleeve  top is a great spring to summer essential, no matter what bottom style you choose. who doesn’t love puff sleeves? They look great with jeans, shorts, skirts, and of course white jeans. And it some embroidery and you have just elevated your outfit

This puff sleeve top is an older style that I’ve had in my closet for years (similar long sleeve version here). But like with all classic pieces, it’s still very much in style. The extra detail makes this a piece you will reach for time and time again. It’s great to have a special top that you can count on for last minute dressing.

These high-waist, straight-leg white jeans give just enough volume throughout the leg, to balance out the puff sleeves. The frayed hem lends a more casual feel to the outfit. Quick tip- although these jeans came frayed, I have cut the bottoms of my jeans that were too long, and let them fray on their own!
