Hill House Ellie Nap Dress Review
Hill House is such a widely recognized brand, mainly due to their signature nap dress. It’s the dress designed with comfort and versatility in mind. It’s a dress that takes you from day to night with ease. The Hill House Pre-fall collection is full of dark florals, and moodier fall colors and textures. I love a good “wear now, wear later” option. And the Hill House Ellie nap dress, along with the rest of their collection, is exactly that!
Hill House Ellie Nap Dress Review
Comfortable!
Hill House nap dresses are all about comfort. Can you nap in them? Sure but you probably don’t want to. They are meant for easy dressing and looking polished no matter what you are doing. There are no buttons, zippers, or snaps to slow you down. Just pull-on the nap dress and you’re ready for the day or night!
When founder Nell Diamond first introduced the iconic nap dress, the world was in lockdown. Her dresses met the needs of comfort, ease, and a well put together look. The ease of her dresses, along with the charming prints is what makes the Hill House dresses an instant fashion win! Plus versatility is key for a well stocked wardrobe.
The brand has evolved over the last few years and now offers several different style nap dresses, along with pajamas, matching sets, and bedding. Today I’m sharing my favorite style, and giving you a Hill House Ellie nap dress review.
Hill House Ellie Nap Dress
This Ellie nap dress is my favorite dress from the new collection. The smocking, ruffle shoulder straps, and tiered midi skirt, make this feminine and romantic while being very modern and wearable at the same time. The soft crinkle chiffon fabric makes this dress flow as you walk and gives you all the texture you need in a versatile dress. The color palette is very fitting for fall with its berry color florals against a black background.
This is what I will grab to wear for an impromptu dinner out, a casual lunch with friends, even just running errands on a Saturday with sneakers. It’s so comfortable that you will want to keep it on high rotation.
Sizing Runs Large
I love that Hill House is very inclusive on their sizing. Sizes range from XXXS to XXL with a forgiving fit due to the elastic smocking at the waist. It runs slightly large so it’s best to size down. I’m wearing XXS and the fit is great. The length is very appropriate too. It seems like everything is made for 5’6” women. A true midi dress like this will hit just right on a 5’6” frame. I’m 5’2” so midi dresses are often maxi length on me. And often times that just doesn’t look flattering. The Ellie nap dress however, is a great length for all sizes. The length is not too long for petites, and if you are taller, it will hit you at the perfect height to add a pair of knee high boots for fall.
Styling the Ellie Nap Dress
I’m keeping the look fresh for summer with my gold block heels from Inez (Take 15% off at Inez with TARA15). Gold heels are a wardrobe staple and perfect neutral for all seasons (you can read my post on the ultimate guide to gold shoes). I’ve added my classic black Sezane Milo bag to keep the look cohesive. Personally I find these nap dresses great for going out. You can easily dress them up with accessories and wear them to dinner or even to a wedding. Once the cooler weather sets in, I’ll switch to knee high boots and add a cardigan for a perfectly effortless fall transition look.
