Fall Transition Dressing with Ulla Johnson

The transition from Summer to Fall is always exciting, nostalgic, and hopeful all at the same time. I consider the start of the Fall season more like a new year, than the actual New Year’s holiday itself. New beginnings such as the new school year, new holiday experiences, and of course new fashion. This season’s collection from Ulla Johnson is everything I want in my Fall transition wardrobe.

Known for her boho prints and endless supply of ruffles, Ulla Johnson makes fashion fun. And isn’t that what it’s all about? Her wondrous appeal is actually in her roots. A fact that I find so fascinating is that she is the daughter of archaeologists. You can see the nod to the faraway destinations in her collections.

When transitioning to my Fall wardrobe, I look for light materials and darker prints. Here in NJ, it can be quite hot until mid to late October. So I want to be cool and comfortable but start to incorporate some of Fall’s darker hues. That’s what Ulla Johnson does best. This cotton dress I’m wearing (similar here in pink, and similar dupe here), with it’s ruffle sleeves, flare hem, and darker hues, is a perfect way to welcome Fall. Worn with gold sandals in the summer, and knee high boots in the Fall, this dress makes Fall transition easy.

Ulla Johnson’s mix of trends with timeless appeal makes her designs both wearable and desirable. I always feel very put together and confident in her dresses. This one is no exception. This flowy design provides envious movement while walking. I also love this more affordable Ulla Johnson dupe dress, if you are looking for something with sleeves.

To pull out the burgundy tones in the carefree Ulla print, I’m wearing my puffy Cloud clutch from Mansur Gavriel. I got this last year when the Bottega Veneta craze was in full swing. Luckily they brought it back this season in an assortment of colors. I can tell you first hand that clutch is just as nice as the Bottega one. But for a fraction of the Bottega price. It’s a great dupe. However I must tell you that I bought this bag at it’s original price. This bag sold out so quick, that when they finally restocked it, the price went up by $200. Naughty, naughty Mansur Gavriel. Still, the soft squishy leather is a dream to hold and it really elevates any look. You can read my first review of the bag here.

In summary, I can say that this is one of my favorite fall transition dresses to date. I love the wearability, playfulness, and not-too-sweet girly vibes this dress displays.
