I’ve been thinking a lot about my closet lately, and how I just have so much stuff. It’s a heavy feeling sometimes and a bit overwhelming. Do you know that we wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time? Think of all that space that’s being taken up by clothes we hardly ever wear. I dream of a closet that’s a bit more sparse with highly curated pieces of clothing that I can easily mix and match together. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely a place for statements and fun pieces you can mix in with your basics. But the thought of paring down my closet gives me a lighter feeling and sense of relief. Classic Six is the answer to this cycle of having a ton of clothes but nothing to really wear. By creating select high-quality pieces, the intention is to create more outfits with less. High-quality is not only about quality fabrics, but also thoughtful design. These are pieces you can actually wear, and want to wear again and again.

Classic Six started with 6 original pieces in the collection. The classic double-breasted blazer, a linen sweater, a timeless button-down shirt, a pleated midi skirt, essential wide-leg pants, and the Twiggy shift dress. All of these are timeless wardrobe pieces that set the foundation to a classic capsule wardrobe. The collection has expanded but still captures essential wardrobe staples with beautiful details! Let’s dive into a few pieces I own and love.

Classic Six Twiggy Shift Dress

One of the original “classic six” clothing pieces in this collection, the Twiggy dress is offered in a few carefully selected seasonal shades. This is your iconic shift dress with a 1960s nostalgia. The Twiggy dress features a crewneck, dropped waistline, and long sleeves. Ever so chic and versatile, you can wear this with heels for dinner and drinks, with flats for daytime, or be the chicest woman in town and wear this with sneakers and a large tote.

This dress is available in ivory and navy, and now in white eyelet for summer! This is the shift dress you have been looking for. It’s the perfect addition to a classic summer capsule wardrobe. I’ve kept the look slightly casual but elevated with my crochet ballet flats and raffia tote.

James Linen Crewneck Tee

Everyone loves a good t-shirt. Make it a linen tee and it just gets chicer. Choosing a linen tee over a traditional cotton tee gives you more outfit options. The James linen tee can be dressed up a bit more, and lays just right on the body. Since it is 100% linen, it is slightly sheer. You will want to wear a skin-colored bra to keep the look elevated. This tee looks great under a blazer, or on it’s own. I’m wearing a size XS for a perfectly comfortable fit. If you prefer a more relaxed fit, size up. Note that this tee is off-white, and not stark white. I think that makes it even classier.

Gabrielle Convertible Box Jacket

This pink tweed box jacket is giving me Coco Chanel vibes. The boxy cropped fit contrasts with the feminine pink color in such an effortless way. And want to hear the best part about it? It’s convertible! The sleeves can easily be snapped off to make a short sleeve jacket. I love having that option. Note that this jacket does not have a front closure, but is meant to be worn open. Wear this with the James linen tee, or a button-down shirt and jeans for a casual chic look.

I’m wearing a size 0. You will want to take a look at the size information since precise measurements are provided. The jacket fits me great- I generally wear a size 0, however I think that a size 2 would work as well. Since this is a boxy fit and is meant to be worn open, having a little extra room would work fine. Note that when looking at the measurements for this jacket, pay attention to the bicep measurement. This is where the snaps join the sleeves. It is a little tighter in this area for me, that’s why I think a size 2 would work as well. Don’t be afraid to size up here.

Classic Six Capsule Clothing

Overall I really love this new-to-me brand, Classic Six. I’m completely on-board with having a number of high-quality go-to pieces that can be styled in so many different ways. In addition to the quality of fabrics, the styles are so easy to wear. They really make putting together polished looks easy. I have my eye on the Katherine blazer in ivory for creating seamless summer to fall transition outfits.

One last note- Pay attention to the size information on each product page. Classic Six does a great job of providing measurements for each product so that you can choose the best fit for you. Not many brands go that extra step. I love that!
