Boho Chic Style Clothing
Boho chic style dressing is a more tailored, modern, and elevated form of the bohemian style of fashion. Luxury brands such as as Ulla Johnson, Johanna Ortiz, and Chloe are high-end examples of modern, travel inspired collections. Each collection is full of patterns such as traditional block print, ikat, and geometric designs. It is also very feminine, effortless, and casually chic. A closet full of boho inspired pieces makes for an easy way to look effortless without too much time put into dressing. While I love each of these high-end brands, I will be sharing some lesser known, and more budget friendly boho chic style clothing options.
This season is seeing a trend in boho chic style. What’s great about boho style prints is they blend seamlessly into travel wardrobes. Laid back and effortless, yet very put together. Let’s dive into my favorite brands for creating an elegant, effortless, and confident wardrobe.
Boho Chic Style Clothing Brands
Ulla Johnson
I must start with Ulla Johnson because her designs are so inspiring and are often mimicked. She is best known for her statement ruffles, and puff sleeves. Her designs tell a story of travel, modern nostalgia, and carefree living. Did you know that she is the daughter of archeaologists? How cool is that? Most likely because of that, her brand is very NYC meets exotic destination. Ulla is committed to working with rural areas where people can earn sustainable work and further economic development.
If you are looking to start adding Ulla Johnson pieces to your wardrobe, a statement dress is a great option as her designs are so breathtaking. Plus it’s nice to have a go-to dress for last minute occasions. I love having a few go-to pieces for last minute dinner invites, or parties. A simpler day dress will likely get you the most use since you can wear this with sandals for day and heels for night. Either way, her color palettes are always seasonally appropriate. A lot of earthy tomes and natural colors.
While Ulla Johnson is on the higher price end, her pieces are timeless and can be worn season after season. I wear a size 00 (I’m 5′ 2″ and 105 lbs), as her styles run roomy and flowy.
Doen
Doen is a luxe boho chic style brand. They are known for their romantic, vintage inspired designs, as well as their beautiful and delicate fabrics. Founded by Californian sisters who wanted to bring more feminine representation to the fashion industry, and create something special. From flowy dresses and cozy sweaters to versatile tops and bottoms, Doen offers a wide range of styles that can easily be mixed and matched to create elevated boho chic outfits.
Doen’s price point is not as high as Ulla Johnson but it’s definitely up there. I would say that these two brands could be considered a more affordable alternative to the queen of boho style- Chloe. Look to Doen to bring you a more sophisticated and elegant version of boho chic style. I especially love their beautiful tops which can be paired with jeans, pants, or skirts you already own. I find this brand runs slightly large and I generally take a size XXS.
Sezane
If you know me, you know I love Sezane clothing. This French brand has its roots in vintage clothing. Founder Morgan Sezalory would source vintage clothing and make some updates of her own like changing out buttons, or changing a hem. She would then sell them on eBay. This little business turned into the global Sezane brand we know today.
You can see the nod to vintage and boho styles in each collection. I would call Sezane more of a modern-day boho chic style. Very feminine styles and usually mixed with more masculine type pieces. Sezane loves a floral midi skirt with a blazer. It’s the contrast of feminine boho to more masculine lines that makes this brand so appealing to so many styles. If you want to read more about this French brand, I have several posts including my full Sezane review.
Cleobella
Cleobella is another boho chic style brand that is globally inspired. The soft breathable GOTS certified cotton dresses are one of my favorite summer outfit choices. The cotton fabric is so light and comfortable in the hot summer heat. Plus a light cotton dress is perfect for vacation packing. It doesn’t take up much space (especially if you use the roll method), and they are day to night appropriate. Cleobella is committed to crating sustainable incomes for global partners.
The price point of Cleobella is much more attainable than Ulla Johnson, with the average price of a dress very similar to the French brand Sezane at around $200. I wear a size XS in this brand and the fit is comfortable and roomy.
Boho Chic Style: Ba&sh Dresses
The French brand Ba&sh definitely gives off some joyful summer Parisian elegance. The flowy fabrics and colorful prints are beautiful statements makers. Ba&sh is a brand I always look to for easy and effortless dresses. This boho chic style midi dress captures my summer vibe! This is something I would wear on a vacation to Ibiza. I love the bright red trim complimented by the red, purple, green, and yellow floral design. The loose v-neck and butterfly sleeves make this an elevated casual choice for easy summer style.
Ba&sh sizing runs a little bit large in my opinion, however the brand is known for loose and flowing designs. I wear a size XS which fits more like a size 2. You can read my other Ba&sh post to learn more about this cult worthy brand.
Beyond By Vera
My love for Beyond by Vera grows each year. Vera is an Austrian designer who lives in India where her collection is made. Each print is hand drawn by Vera and her team before being hand screen-printed. The block print fabrics and bold colors are boho chic style at it’s finest.
This dress I am wearing is from the Garden of Eden collection. It’s beautiful and soft cotton fabric. The slight balloon sleeves and pockets really make this dress a favorite of mine! I’ve styled it for fall with my knee-high suede boots but this would look just as great with sandals in the summer.
The entire collection is full of bold, happy patterns, stunning skirt and top sets, and must have dresses. The price point is about $100 less than what you would pay for a similar Ulla Johnson piece. I’m wearing a size XS which comfortably fits a size 0 to 2.
Under $200 Boho Chic Style Clothing
Here are some more affordable options to add boho chic to your wardrobe. The easiest way to add in some bohemian vibes is to pair a pretty embroidered top with some flare or wide-leg jeans. Just look for earthy tones, florals, ruffles, and easy fitting styles.
