Best Books for Fashion Lovers and Mango skirt

I love a good book and read quite a bit.  I generally gravitate towards historical fiction novels but there are times when I just want a quick and fun read.  Being a fashion lover, I’ve read my share of fashion inspired books.  Here I will share some of my favorites. (And by the way, let me know in the comments below if you would like me to share some of my favorite novels as well!).

Fictionally Fabulous: The Characters Who Created The Looks We Love

If you love fashion art like I do and love iconic style,  is the book for you.  This book is full of illustrations of all the women who have influenced the trends in their time.  Audrey Hepburn’s best known Breakfast at Tiffany’s character, Holly Golightly is illustrated wearing the famous Givenchy little black dress. A truly iconic fashion moment.  Another favorite mention of mine was also a favorite show as a child.  The original Charlie’s Angel girls.  They were and still are the most fashionable bell bottom wearing private investigators I ever did see!  A fun read that will make you want to binge watch on Netflix for sure! CHANEL and her world

I can just imagine that every fashionista has this next one. But I have to mention it anyways- . Now there are many books written about Coco Chanel, but this one is my favorite. It talks about her early years and how she acquired the nickname “Cocoâ€.  It also gets into the political state of the world in which she lived in and how that impacted her designs. In contrast to popular fashion at the time, her designs were made for comfort and necessity. As a result, she became the legend we all know her today.  She even employed two assistants to go to her shop, borrow her clothes, and walk around town.  Now that sounds like the original influencer to me!  I bought my copy over 10 years ago at the Chanel exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. But you can get your copy here on Amazon!

Valentino: Themes and Variations

Next on my list is one for those who prefer stunning visionary over reading, . This is a great coffee table book. Valentino’s haute couture designs are impressive and drool worthy.  This is a beautiful collection that will certainly keep your interest.  It is the perfect companion for that rainy day where you just want to get lost in a fantasy of fabrics, pleats, and ruffles! You can pick up a copy here!

My Mrs. Brown: A Novel

Finally, this last book on my list is very different from the ones mentioned above- . This was an unexpected read for me. Very different from what I thought it would be.  It is an amazing, heart-felt story about a frugal woman who travel’s to New York City on a mission to buy a very special Oscar de la Renta dress. You will have to read it for yourself to find out why she wants this dress so bad. I’m sure if you do, Mrs. Brown will have a special place in your heart.  This is definitely one of those books that leaves an impression.  Get your My Mrs Brown here.

There are so many more inspiring fashion books.  This is only a small sample of the ones I truly love. Hope you enjoy my picks! Happy reading!
