Bring out your white tops! Summer is closely upon us (finally!). It’s time to start getting out the shorts and summer essentials. The main summer essential for me is always a white top. White tops are a summer staple. Just about every brand had its own version. But let’s face it, in the sea of white tops available, it’s actually hard to find one that suits. They are either too sheer, too boxy, too stiff, too something. For an item that seems easy enough to find, it can be quite the opposite.
When it comes to white tops, there are 3 types of white tops I incorporate into my summer style. The faithful tee, the button down, and the feminine top. All are essential pieces in your wardrobe that can cary you throughout the seasons. Here are some of my favorite white tops that are available now.

The Tee

The tee is a great layering essential. For that reason, they are great for any season, but especially summer when the the summer nights can sometimes be cool. Paired with shorts, jeans, or a midi skirt, a tee is a great outfit base. Plus, adding a great linen jacket over a white t-shirt is so effortlessly chic. I like to be able to mix and match my wardrobe without too much thought.

The Button-down

The button-down top can easily take you from day to night, and work to weekend. So effortless with jeans, and so polished with trousers, the button-down is a must. I love a great button-down shirt, especially in white. You can read more about them in my other posts here and here.

The Feminine top

The feminine top consists of ruffles, eyelet, or linen. It’s a little fancier and more intricate than your average top but is still easily worn casual, as I did here. These are a few of my favorite feminine tops you can add to your summer style!

This top I’m wearing is from Alexis clothing has all the boxes checked for a great summer top- it’s light weight, just slightly sheer, and flowy. It’s fun feminine details like the ruffled trim and attached cape is so unexpected. The silk material and free flowing silhouette are so elegant. I love that this can be just as stunning dressed down with jeans as it can elevated with a pair of linen trousers or a pencil skirt.
I love reading into the inspiration behind brands that speak to me. Alexis is a mother daughter duo. Their designs are inspired by their travels, visited cultures and inspiring architecture. The line is full of modern lines with a hint of vintage nostalgia. They do ruffles and lace so well. Alexis clothing speaks to a strong, confident woman who is not afraid of taking charge. If you haven’t checked them out already, you should definitely do so. Although this particular top is no longer available, this one and this one make great alternatives.
