The Statement Coat- Two Trends in one!

The statement coat is a not just a coat. It is a piece that carries itself. It’s like the ultimate accessory. It is attention grabbing and steals the show. The statement coat never goes out of style. It will always be stylish to have a warm and beautifully unique coat. What I love most about the statement coat is that all you need is a simple outfit underneath. Jeans and a thin cashmere sweater are perfect for a chilly day. Choose a bold pattern or color to elevate your outfit!

Color

Choosing a color and pattern are important. You should be comfortable in both. By definition, the statement coat should do just that- make a statement. Choose a color within the color family you normally wear or go completely opposite. Do you wear a lot of neutrals? Go for a bold color! 2018 was definitely the year of yellow! Yellow was and still is everywhere this year. It’s such a bright happy color that is not for the shy.

Another big trend this year is checks. The checked coat is a great alternative to a traditional solid coat and adds visual interest to your outfit. Checks can be small and traditional, or large and impactful. So what do you get when you combine the biggest coat trend this season, the checked coat, and the biggest color of the year, yellow? The Coat

This Alexa Chung coat has statement written all over it. Not only is it beautiful, but functional and warm as well. With wool, mohair, and alpaca in the blend, it’s great for a cold day out. The mustard yellow and cream checked print, combined with the belted waist makes it classic yet risky. It has a bit of the 70’s retro vibe going on. As soon as I saw this on Farfetch I knew this was the coat for me! I added it to my wishlist and waited for the Black Friday sale with fingers crossed! Once this went on sale I jumped on it! I really had no hesitations. This is a coat that I will wear for years to come. Applause to Alexa Chung for combining two of the biggest trends in 2018 into one Statement piece!
