Sunday Musings: April 2022 Edition
What to Read
I just finished “The Christie Affair” based off the real life mystery of author Agatha Christie’s 11 day disappearance in 1926. When I was a child, I used to watch the drama series Murder She Wrote, based off Agatha Christie’s character, Miss Maple. While researching my newest book to read, this one caught my attention as I was a fan of the mystery series. This book takes place during the time of Agatha Christie’s mysterious disappearance, while also going back in time to the main character’s (and narrator’s), life leading up to the event. Only Agatha knows what really happened during those 11 days, but this book tells one theory that reads just like an adaptation of one of her mystery novels.
What to Watch
The new Netflix series Midnight at the Pera Palace, is a fun time-travel mystery taking place in the beautiful city of Istanbul, Turkey. From present day, the main character must stop an assassination from happening in 1919. The grandeur of the historic hotel, and the glamorous fashion makes this a must-see.
A funny little co-incidence happened this month that I thought I would mention. First, I read the “The Christie Affair” before I started watching “Midnight at Pera Palace”. Early on in the first episode, as the main character is checking into the hotel, it is mentioned that Agatha Christie stayed at the hotel, which inspired her to write “Murder on the Orient Express”. In addition, Agatha herself makes an appearance in the show! Co-incidence? Maybe, but in any event, it gave me a nice little connection to share with you this month!
What to Wear
Spring has sprung but the weather here is New Jersey is temperamental. With temperatures warm one day and cold the next, I’m leaning towards lot of straight-leg jeans paired with a sweater or tee, depending on the weather. Straight-leg jeans have officially de-throned the long reigning skinny jeans as the nation’s favorite style.
My absolute favorite pair of straight-leg jeans are my AG jeans. The Mari crop style is my go-to which I wear way too much! I was actually thinking of investing in a second pair. However I do also really like this pair from Mango. You can see me wearing them in my previous post. The price is much nicer too. For reference I wear a size 24 in AG and a size 2 in Mango.
What to Do
Spring has sprung and so has my need for re-organizing. I started to rearrange my closet to make my lighter wardrobe items accessible right up front. I used to be able to keep everything out and not have to “pack away” my winter clothes. However since started my blog, I’ve accumulated too much stuff! Seasonal transitions are a great time to go through your clothes and make your “keep, “donate”, and “toss” piles.
For storing away winter sweaters, I bought these storage bags last year and they are great! Since it’s a bag and not a bin, they are easily stored away in a closet or under the bed. I bought 2 and filled them with my sweaters, and other winter items that I wanted to store away. You can also use them to store away your swimsuits, shorts, and other summer items for the winter season. I highly recommend them!I also throw in one of these lavender bags.
Happy Sunday!
