Summersalt Sizing and Fit Guide

The fit design of Summersalt swimsuits is created using 1.5 million measurements taken from over 10,000 women! That says a lot about the brand wanting to get it right. And they do! Having tried many many swimsuits over the years, I can honestly say that Summersalt is a top choice of mine. I think they do a good job of getting the fit and cuts right.

The Size guide on the product pages is very accurate. I wear a size 2 in all Summersalt swimsuits. The fit is meant to be snug. That’s how we keep it all in! I will say that initially getting the swimsuits on can feel very tight. But once the swimsuit is on, it’s very comfortable.

Depending on the swimsuit style, you can choose full coverage bottoms or cheeky bottoms. And for top coverage, some styles only have lining (The Sidestroke), while others offer a shelf bra with built-in soft cups (the Ruched Sidestroke, the Ruffle Backflip, the Perfect Wrap One-Piece). The cups are soft but do not provide extra inches. They are just meant for additional modest coverage. Every product description will tell you the details so you know exactly what you are buying.

Summersalt Sidestroke Swimsuits Review

The Summersalt Sidestroke swimsuits are my favorite style! I think the one shoulder style is so flattering. It gives that old-school glam vibe. Very much fitting into the current “quiet luxury” trend. Plus I’m all about one piece swimsuits lately.

The style I’m wearing in all of these photos is the Ruched Sidestroke. The difference between this and the original and best-selling Sidestroke, is that the original has diagonal pieces of fabric making up a more textured version of the suit. The Ruched Sidestroke is sleek fitting and has a defined waist seam. Both styles have an asymmetrical open back detail.

Another difference between the Ruched Sidestroke and the original Sidestroke, is that the Ruched swimsuits have built-in soft cups for extra coverage. I really like this feature a lot. The cups do not add a size, they are really just an extra layer to keep the look more modest.

Besides the fit of the Ruched Sidestroke swimsuit, I also love the fact that it is also available with or without a bow at the shoulder. This elevates the entire look so much. This offers such a great pool to dinner option that is perfect for travel. Just pair this swimsuit with white linen pants or a skirt for day to night style. You will have to pay attention to the product description, as some colors comes with a detachable bow, while others have the bow attached (does not come off), and some do not have a bow at all.

Summersalt Cover-ups

In addition to swimsuits, Summersalt also has a great selection of bathing suit cover-ups. My favorite and easiest style is the Effortless Shirtdress. You can just throw this on for a quick cover and leave it open, or button it up and tie the optional waist belt. It’s so easy and effortless (hence the name!).

Swim skirts are also a great cover-up option. I love the fact that they can be worn right from the beach or pool, straight out to lunch. Pair it with a coordinating swimsuit for an elevated daytime summer look. I’m wearing the ruched swim skirt. Wearing it here with my favorite scalloped raffia bag.

I was initially unsure of the length since I’m 5’2″, but I’m happy to say that this dress is petite friendly if you love a maxi. I can wear this with both heels and flat sandals and the look is so effortless and chic. The shoulder straps are also adjustable so you can get the perfect fit. I wear a size XS and fit is relaxed from the waist down. The smocking detail at the chest makes this super forgiving with lots of room to expand.
