6 Classy Spring Transition Outfits

Spring has sprung! The wait for spring always seems so long, but it’s finally here. The flowers are budding and my allergies are kicking in! But often with the start of spring, the mornings and evenings can be a little chilly. I’m finding it’s more like winter in the morning, with late afternoon spring-like weather. Sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t get the message in time. Welcoming some lightweight and colorful items into your wardrobe is a great way to embrace the warmer season ahead. Light layering is essential with the unpredictable weather. To bridge the transition from winter to spring, I’m sharing a roundup of 6 outfits that you can wear during this sometimes tricky transitional period.

6 Spring Transition Outfits

For transitioning into spring, opt for light colors and layers to keep you warm when needed but also spring ready! It’s time to add some more color to your wardrobe. Here are some spring transition outfit ideas you probably already own.

Spring Layering Essentials

Sometimes all you need is a light layer. Spring is infamous for cool mornings and hot afternoons. Having a great layer handy is essential for keeping comfortable. Mix and match your looks with a lady jacket or slightly cropped blazer. This light white tweed jacket is perfect for your more professional work wear outfits, and also transitions well with jeans!

Cardigan Sweater Outfit

When it’s still sweater weather but the signs of spring are all around, try wearing a lighter color sweater to bridge the winter to spring transition. I love a cardigan sweater since you can wear it buttoned up or open with a tee underneath. I’m partial to the Betty cardigan which I have in several colors. It has such a great length- not too short and not too long. It hits just right. You can wear this with denim jeans, a skirt, any type of pants, or these fun printed jeans I got on my recent trip to Palm Beach. Style your light sweaters with a deeper neutral like this bag to keep from looking too bright and springy!

Trench Coat Outfit

A trench coat is staple in any spring capsule wardrobe. Choosing a light and neutral color will ensure that your trench coat goes with most of your outfits. I have a whole blog post dedicated to wearing trench coats. You can see more style inspiration there. This one is from The Curated and is such a light and classy option. The fit is slightly relaxed, I’m wearing a size XXS.

Dresses With Loafers

Transitional weather is a great time to wear sweater dresses. To keep your outfit from looking too “Fall”, try wearing loafers instead of boots. Loafers are a good choice since they keep your toes covered and are a little bit sturdier than ballet flats. Plus the extra leg exposure makes the outfit appear more “spring”. I love a nautical stripe sweater dress for spring time. Navy is a great all season neutral! I’m wearing the new Holland Cooper sweater dress which is actually my favorite sweater dress I own. It’s soft, comfortable, and is cut to give you a little shape. I’m wearing a size XS. The suede loafers are also Holland Cooper. I’m generally a size 7.5 and I’m wearing a size UK 5.

Cape Outfit

The winter to spring transition is a great time to experiment with different outerwear. Try wearing a light cape instead of a jacket for hands-free comfort. Depending on the weather, you can layer with a chunky sweater underneath or a light top.

Dresses With Boots

Dresses with boots are my Fall outfits of choice. However for winter to spring transition, keep the color palette lighter. Try wearing a more colorful dress to make your outfit more seasonally appropriate. A dress is a great way to incorporate floral spring outfits into your wardrobe.

Just because it’s spring, the weather may still be cool. Make sure to have an extra layer with you whether it’s a lady jacket, a cardigan, or a trench coat. Bridge the gap between the seasons with light knit dresses and loafers, and dresses with boots. Time time to enjoy and lets not rush the season. 😉
