Shrimps Beaded “It” Bag: Antonia

If you have been on Instagram in the last year, you are sure to have seen the Shrimps “It” bag. What makes a bag have “It bag” status? I think it’s the instant broad appeal, unique design, and it’s ability to resonate with a diverse set of styles. Whether you are classic, edgy, preppy, bohemian, etc., an “it” bag can be incorporated into any look without seeming out-of-place. Shrimps current “It” bag is called the Antonia bag. It’s a fan favorite of fashion bloggers for good reason. It’s immediately eye-catching and so unique. The beaded bag trend is going strong. I never like to tell anyone they need anything however, if you were on the fence about this bag, here’s my inside scoop on it.

First, it’s a unique neutral. It comes in many colors but the white is most popular. It really does look like real pearls. The quality is top-notch too. And believe me, I eyed it over. If I’m spending this much on something, you can be sure I’m inspecting it first.

When deciding whether or not to purchase an item, I always think of at least 3 occasions where I will wear it. I always have tons of styling ideas going on in my head but the actual execution of them is the trickier part. It has to have appeal, be different, yet still wearable. At first I thought it was a beautiful beaded bag but might be impractical. Would I actually wear it? I couldn’t stop admiring it so I took the plunge and ordered one from Farfetch during their 10% off in-app purchase event. Saving money always helps in purchase decisions!

When it arrived I loved it right out of the box. It was shiny, bright and really lustrous. Like real pearls. Totally something that Ariel from The Little Mermaid would own (as my daughter would say). I still thought it might be impractical and almost sent it back. I’m so glad that I took a chance on it and didn’t. Because now it’s been my most worn bag of the season! It is actually very comfortable to carry. It easily fits in the crook of the arm too if you don’t want to hold it.

Surprisingly, I love it for casual wear best. It looks amazing with jeans and elevates an otherwise “normal” outfit. It even dresses up a track suit. Just adds a little fun. And it also looks amazing with dressier outfits. In fact, this would be the perfect wedding bag! I can picture a bride carrying this on her wedding day. What amazing photos that would make!

I love the Shrimps brand for their unique take on style. Their faux fur coats have made cult status. They always catch my attention. Sadly I do not own one do to the price. Maybe someday that will change… For now, I will just continue to enjoy my Shrimps “it” bag!

So, my overall impression of the Shrimps “it” bag is that it is totally wearable and worth the investment. Years from now this will still be relevant. Pearls never go out of style. Even in a handbag form.
