Paravel Luggage Review: Travel in Style

Just in time for mid-season travels, I’m sharing a review of Paravel luggage. When it comes to travel, having the right luggage can make all the difference. Paravel is one brand that stands apart from the rest. It’s not only very functional, but also sustainably made, and comes in a gorgeous collection of classic styles and colors. Today I’m sharing my review of the Paravel Aviator Carry-on Plus. This is the larger of the two carry-on sizes offered. And the Weekender bag.

Paravel Luggage Review

Paravel luggage is known for being the first carbon neutral suitcase, crafted of sustainably sourced materials such as recycled polycarbonate, recycled aluminum, and recycled vegan leather. They give post-consumer plastic water bottles a second life by taking them out of the recyclable cycle, and putting them into their suitcases. By doing this, they are helping to reduce plastic pollution. Paravel has been certified Climate Neutral since 2020. Climate Neutral is a nonprofit organization that works to decrease global greenhouse gas emissions. Now, on to the review!

The Aviator Carry-on Plus

Paravel has two carry-on sizes, the Aviator Carry-On and the Aviator Carry-On Plus. The difference between the two is only about an inch in length and height, and half an inch in width. But when you are trying to pack multiple outfit options like I do, you want every extra inch you can get. The Aviator Plus fits 4-7 days worth of clothes, and 2-4 pairs of shoes. I can fit this plus a toiletry bag in mine.

The Aviator is 13.7″L x 21.7″H x 9″W and weighs 8.2 lbs, while the Aviator Carry-On Plus is 14.7″L x 22.7″H x 9.6″W and weighs 8.5 lbs. Both options meet TSA carry-on requirements.

Paravel Luggage Design

Paravel suitcases review

Classic style blogger with Paravel carry on suitcase

I love the timeless design and classic color options in the Paravel luggage collection. The recycled vegan leather accents really give this an elevated look. The hard outer shell keeps your clothes and shoes safe from damage, while also making packing easier. When you compare a hard suitcase vs a soft suitcase (or duffle bag), the hard case luggage will always win. Take the same amount of clothes and shoes in your hard case and put them into a soft suitcase. You wind up with bulky luggage and danger of not fitting into the overhead compartments. With a hard suitcase, the shapes remains the same.

In addition to classic style and good looks, the Aviator Carry-on Plus features smooth 360 degree double spinner wheels, internal pockets, an interior compression board, and a shoe bag! Let me tell you, the glide of the wheels is super smooth. I was really impressed by this.

Paravel vs Away Suitcases

Paravel “Aviator Carry-On Plus” vs Away “The Carry-On”

I have and love the Away Carry-on suitcase. In fact, when deciding our family needed another carry-on, I was debating between another Away or the Paravel. Away offers a larger selection of carry-on sizes. I have the smallest one, The Carry-on which is 21.7″L x 14.4″H x 9″W and weighs 7.5 lbs. Under an inch larger than the smallest Paravel carry on, the Paravel Aviator. I can fit a lot in this! The Bigger Carry-on from Away is the one that compares best to the Aviator Carry-On Plus since they are closest in size.

Here is a size comparison chart:

Paravel vs Away suitcases

When comparing the same size from both brands, The Carry-on Flex from Away is $325, while the Paravel Aviator Carry-On is $395. In my honest opinion, both brands of suitcases are great. They both offer lots of room, thoughtful internal compartments, and a classic design. If price is your deciding factor, Away suitcases are less expensive overall. In addition, Away offers more colors, while Paravel keeps a smaller and more traditional color selection. There is no doubt that the Paravel is a prettier suitcase with very appealing timeless colors. Away looses a few points in looks, although their seasonal colors can be really fun if you are looking for a pop of color. But what’s most important is function. And both suitcases are really great choices.

Paravel suitcase

Having said this, I’ve already made up my mind that when I need to get another suitcase, it will be Paravel. It’s so elegant and luxe looking. These suitcases are just beautiful! If you are willing to spend a little more for a prettier design, Paravel luggage is for you. Let’s face it, suitcases are one of those pieces that you generally buy once and use for a very long time. Get the one you really love and that suits your style!

Paravel Weekender Bag

Paravel weekender bag review

The Weekender is the perfect bag for a quick weekend getaway. Made from a durable, spill-proof canvas, it fits 1-2 days worth of clothes, an extra pair of shoes, and toiletries. It’s made with the same thoughtful design as the Paravel suitcases, and is the perfect travel companion when you need some extra room.

It’s a very pretty bag. I love how the colors match the other Paravel suitcases. The roomy design can fit in overhead airplane compartments. The sizing is is 15″ x 15″ x 8″. Plenty of room to pack for a quick trip! I have the Scout tan Weekender, however it also comes in 3 other timeless colorways.
