Festive Holiday Tops

A festive top is one of my favorite pieces to style for a fall holiday outfit. Whether it’s Thanksgiving dinner with family or a casual holiday party, pairing a fun top with jeans or pants instantly makes you look polished without feeling overdressed. I especially love ruffle and peplum styles, and this top is such a good find. It’s simple but chic and can be styled with jeans, pants, or a skirt. It feels feminine without being fussy, and adds just the right amount of interest for the holidays.
Having great wardrobe staples like classic pumps, makes wearing fun tops easier. A timeless style like these heels go with everything from pants, jeans, to skirts and dresses, You can take 15% off these beauties with my code SF-TARA-15.

Cozy Corduroy Pants for Fall Holiday Outfits

Corduroy pants are always a fall favorite. They’re cozy, flattering, and have a little vintage charm. To keep with the fall holiday outfit theme, pair them with a feminine top (this is my most-worn style). A classic white shirt with feminine details is a perfect combo when styled with corduroy.
On the feet, leather ankle boots are a beautiful contrast to the matte texture of corduroy. Choose pointed toe boots for a dressier look, and almond or square toe for a completely effortless vibe. This is one of my favorite go-to outfits for holiday gatherings when I want something comfortable but stylish.
Romantic Holiday Dresses
If you’re in the mood to dress up, there’s nothing better then a one-and-done dress. The beauty of dresses is that they can easily be dressed up or down just by changing your shoes. For fall holiday parties, you can’t go wrong with wearing dresses with boots. Boots can give dresses a more casual vibe by choosing block heels or suede, and a dressier vibe by choosing leather and skinny heels.
For casual holiday parties, you can also wear flats with a special details (like these) which makes them feel more party ready. Here are a few of my favorite fall dresses (I have and love this one!):
Fall Floral Midi Skirts

A floral midi skirt is one of those timeless fall holiday outfits you’ll wear year after year. What I love about florals is that you can highlight any color you want. In this outfit, I pulled the green from the skirt and added it to the bag. For a moodier fall vibe, I’d pair the skirt with a black sweater, but here I wanted to emphasize some of the lightness in the print. The dark flowers work beautifully with fall’s rich palette of reds, greens, blues, and oranges.
I also love styling a skirt with a belt, It defines the waist and adds extra detail and texture. When investing in a luxury belt, be aware that sizing can vary depending on whether you wear it at the waist or hips. For reference, this Gucci belt is a size 70, which works perfectly at my waist but is too small for wearing lower on my hips (I wear a size 24 in jeans). A great belt is a versatile piece you’ll reach for again and again.
And finally, these black boots are a longtime favorite. I love the shape and height, plus they pair beautifully with dresses, skirts, and jeans alike. They’ve truly become a go-to pair for me. Take 15% off at Inez with code TARA15.
Casual Holiday Outfit with Jeans

You can never go wrong with jeans for fall holiday outfits. I find jeans to be extremely comfortable and they are a huge part of my fall and winter wardrobe. Right now I’m loving straight-leg styles that feel more updated than skinny jeans.
Here I’m adding a little festive tone to this fall holiday look with my gunmetal pumps (take 15% off with TARA15). The subtle sparkle adds a perfect festive vibe to an otherwise casual outfit. Plus they are holiday party approved! I’ve paired this with a slightly cropped boxy jacket which adds a vintage charm to a modern outfit. This look is perfect to wear to Thanksgiving dinner.
Fall Holiday Style FAQs
What should I wear to a casual fall holiday gathering?
A great pair of jeans that you feel confident in is always a good starting point for a casual fall gathering. There are so many ways to style them! For a casual holiday party, I’d go with wide-leg jeans (this pair and this pair are my favorites), paired with a cozy fall sweater like this brown one, and these gorgeous brown boots (15% off with TARA15). The outfit feels casual but still chic and completely comfortable. I’d finish it with understated pearl drop earrings (use TARATMV for 20% off) for a subtle touch.
How can I make a holiday outfit feel festive without being over the top?
The easiest way is with accessories. Layering necklaces adds interest and makes a simple outfit feel more special. Try a chain set like this one, or mix and match a shorter necklace with a longer pendant for a custom layered look (TARATMV for 20% off).
Another easy trick is to add a pop of color with your shoes. For example, black pants and a black sweater can instantly feel festive with red heels, or try animal print flats for a fun twist.
