How many times have you browsed your favorite shopping sites and found those statement pieces only to find yourself saying- where will I wear that? Or, can I pull that off? That happens to me very often. I’m always drawn to the more unique pieces whether it’s the fabric, print, color combinations, or cut. You know those pieces that hook you in. You keep coming back to them, adding them to cart and just admiring.

That’s what happened to me with this skirt from Viva Aviva. I kept going back to it. I was so drawn to the color, the ruffles, and the asymmetrical cut. I keep thinking- where will I wear that? Is it too fancy? But I finally made it mine during Shopbop’s recent sale. I’m so happy I did. The quality and fit are better than I expected. The yellow pops brighter in person. It makes me want to take a trip to Sicily and roam through the lemon orchards. I love when one item hooks you on the whole line. I’ve found myself repeatedly going to the brand’s site over the last few weeks plotting my next move. I think I’m a true Viva Aviva convert! I mean, how fun is this skirt? It’s full of happiness and cheer!

So where will I wear this? Well, where won’t I? It’s so statement and attention grabbing yet the bright yellow and white stripe print make it so casual and wearable at the same time. It’s the quintessential summer stripe. This can be dressed down with a cute t-shirt and sneakers for a casual lunch or barbecue. Swap out the tee for an off the shoulder top and add some pumps and you have a fun date night or party outfit. I feel that the options are really endless.

I’m a full fan of the statement skirt. They can be intimidating but I think they are more wearable than most would think. Keep in mind the fabric. Cotton will be more casual while taffeta will be more dressy. Don’t let that stop you though. Mix it up. Pair a silk top with the cotton skirt, or a tee with the taffeta. Contrasting pieces make an outfit more edgy and add visual interest. So be creative and most of all have fun with it! Fashion is about creativity and personal expression. Otherwise it’s just clothes.
